Today is National Tartan Day and National Caramel Popcorn Day and Fresh Tomato Day. For dinner, I made a Fresh Tomato Tart using tomatoes that arrived in our CSA box. I also sauteed some collards, also from the farm box. The big news is that Chloe has a brand new flute! The old one has

Today is National Caramel Day and Easter. The girls were up early (for them) to search for eggs. After breakfast, Rob and Chloe went for a bike ride. I worked all morning, trying to get caught up. Rob worked on taxes during the afternoon; Camille and I both fell asleep for naps in the living
photography homework, week 2.
Last week’s homework was to experiment with white balance. This week’s homework was to experiment with shutter speed. While I had no waterfall handy, I did have Chloe handy.

going home.
Why does so much time pass? Why have I not made more of an effort? Finally, after a long time of not visiting, Rob, Chloe and I went home. Home to our beloved Pine Lake. We love living in Decatur. The kids are happy in school here. We enjoy walking to stores, restaurants, the library,

photo friday: on broadway
After our leisurely lunch at Tavern on the Green, we headed (in the snow!) down to Broadway. Over everything else playing, the girls had chosen It’s Only A Play. Chloe would probably have enjoyed a musical more, but Camille appreciated the play within a play. And both girls were happy to see Rupert Grint perform

spring break sadness
Feeling melancholy at the moment. Missing the years where the girls and I were on the road as much as we were home. I love hitting the road, heading off on a new adventure. But now that they are both in school and getting older, we have more obligations and commitments, and less time to

Today is April Fools’ Day and The Birthday of Sliced Bread and National Sourdough Bread Day. Had my second photography class today; we learned about ISO and shutter speed. Stuff I know about, but nice to learn how others describe and use them. On the way home, I stopped at Petco and Publix to stock
happiness project: cooking + misc (apr)
Empower and Energy, Project 44 and the monthly projects in my Happiness Project … so many projects! In reality, they are all facets of the same project, guiding me to finish or give up old projects and move forward on the ones that are most important to me. March’s main theme was House. As I

Today is Bunsen Burner Day and World Backup Day. I spent a few hours at the Red Cross today, getting the credit cards all ready for the bank switchover. Hopefully it will go smoothly! photography dreams, part 2.
Almost a year and a half have passed since I (re)started my a Happiness Project. While this Happiness Project of mine seems to be a tyrant at times, it has been serving its purpose, freeing up some time for me to pursue my personal wish list AND helping me actually move forward on that list.

Today is Pencil Day and National Doctor’s Day. Woke to pouring rain. My perfect kind of day – we have been promised so many rainy days in the last few weeks and haven’t had much of any. Unfortunately for my work, the skies cleared up mid-morning. When the rain stopped, I walked over to the

photo friday: tavern on the green
Another item on my NYC wish list was to take the girls to Tavern on the Green for lunch. More expensive than most places where we dine, we knew it was going to be a splurge. Watching the snow fall on the park as we ate our delicious meal was a perfect way to celebrate
