TEDx Peachtree
As part of my “figuring out what comes next” project, I signed myself up to attend TEDxPeachtree. Easy to sign up, but when the time approached, I got more and more nervous. How was I going to make it through the whole day? What could I possibly have to say to strangers when we met?
photo friday: katz’s deli
After visiting the Brooklyn Flea Market, Camille and I headed into Manhattan to have lunch at Katz’s Deli. As I am a vegetarian, I wasn’t expecting to eat very much; we were there for the experience. And what an experience! Crowded and confusing, with multiple lines for various foods and drinks. But Camille and I
confused. so confused.
My mind is confused. So confused. Able to get outside after months of hibernating inside, I keep finding myself thinking things like “Wow, the vines have grown fast.” “Where are all the spring blossoms?” Yes, spring. I keep thinking it is spring. Because I can finally get outside. Because I feel awake again. Surely that
parent of an adult!
The day has come. My eldest child is no longer a “child” but an adult. Of course, she’s still in high school and lives at home. We’re still looking at 4.5 years or more of supporting her, so she’s still a dependent. But she’s an adult. She can vote. She can get a tattoo. I’m

what’s next?
Taking Camille on tours of campus has me considering “What comes next?” For now, I am happy in my job, but I fear the day may come that my job may disappear or the demands will be ones that I don’t care to accept any more. Then what? What can I do? What would I

The Brooklyn brownstone that Camille and I stayed in on our latest trip to NYC was a block away from the Brooklyn Flea Market. Not the *big* one, but a smaller version, the Fort Greene Flea. Nevertheless, we had a lovely time exploring. I bought a new ring and Camille explored the booths, bought a

college search: rhode island colleges
Camille had a few Rhode Island schools on her list at the start, but by the time we made our plans to visit the northeast, only one was left. Brown University. Urban campus, good academic reputation, a nice fit for what she wants. I thought we were going to not like it. I really did.

He was just so bored with Camille off at GHP. What will he do with himself next year when she goes to college?
photo friday: society of illustrators
As I researched possible new things to do while in NYC, I looked into the possibility of comic museums. As I searched through the Society of Illustrators website, I saw that there would be an opening of “Point Of Vision: Celebrating Women Artists In Fantasy And Science Fiction”. While there was no mention of whether

A school that has been high on Camille’s list and was one of the main reasons for us coming up north to visit colleges is Bryn Mawr. We booked a room at the Wyndham Alumnae House right on campus so we could maximize our time spent there. After getting our room, we took a long

food in boston.
Food in Boston. What comes to mind? Seafood, for sure. Then maybe some continental cuisines? We spend our one evening in Boston in Chinatwon, enjoying the Lantern Festival and the food. First stop was bubble tea (they were out of bubbles) and cake from the 101 Bakery. The cake was cute Camille could barely bring
photo friday: The MET
From The Cloisters, we headed back down and walked across the park to The MET. By that time, we were hungry, and the spots in the park had terrible vegetarian choices. We chose to eat at the museum cafeteria instead – not very good and incredibly expensive. I need to do a better job of
