phelix files: week 9
This has been a week of ups and downs for Phelix. On Tuesday, Phelix apparently pooped in the lobby while Rob was looking the other way. After a reprimand from the condo manager, I was so embarrassed I could barely bring myself to showing my face downstairs again. But mistakes are made, right? So we
daily photo: crane
After an early morning start to see the groundhog make his prediction and a frustrating time signing Camille up for high school, we then walked over to Eddie’s Attic for a concert. On the way, we gawked at the crane in the middle of our street.
hometown saturday: up in the air
Our street was closed today because the building next door was getting a new air conditioner unit. I think I was more excited than my kids to see the huge crane (for our little city) in operation! Want to share a photo from a hometown of your this week? Link up below! Please share a
daily photo: phelix
Phelix the Dog enjoys his walks. I try to get him out as much as I can, but during the week when we’ve got so much going on, it is difficult!
photo friday: arabia mountain
Generally, when people think of stone outcrops in Atlanta, they think of Stone Mountain. But our favorite outcrop? Much less famous, but one of our favorite places to go, is the Davidson-Arabia Nature Preserve. While my favorite time to go is during the spring when the mountain looks like a magical wonderland, I love to
daily photo: croissants
Feeling blue today after the closing on the sale of our Pine Lake house. But these croissants that Camille baked from scratch were a tasty treat!
end of an “era”
Today I am walking around with a heavy heart. Five and a half years after we moved into our beloved Pine Lake house, almost six years since we first saw it, it now belongs to someone else. Despite now being free from maintaining the house and the financial burden, I am having a hard time
daily photo: fleet feet
Chloe joined the “running club” at school yesterday in order to prepare for her next race… Today, our neighbors had a “kickoff” event for the race at their running store just down the street. We walked on down, and Chloe ended up getting to help pull the names for the door prize raffle!
things i like: doctor who scarf
My girls got there long before I did, but slowly but surely I’ve become a Doctor Who fan. I enjoy the newer shows, but with time, I bet I’ll start to enjoy the older ones too. Camille knit this lovely and VERY long scarf for me a few months ago — now if only our
daily photo: white lily
Many of the flowers from last week’s bouquet have withered and died, but this lily just bloomed.
daily photo: jigsaw puzzle
Tomorrow is National Puzzle Day, and we stopped by Seventeen Steps on the way home from the bus so we could get a head start on it!
celebrations: week 4 (22-28 jan 2013)
I’ve kept the same text here for weeks. Maybe soon it will change. … As I wrote in resolutions and traditions and celebrations, oh my1 , we’re taking a little more time for celebrations. The girls love them, and having a guide helps me try out new recipes and do more off-line crafts. This week,
daily photo: chloe
After our morning hike at Arabia Mountain, we decided on having a nice lunch out. Chloe got a little bored waiting for the food to arrive.
phelix files: week 8
Slowly but surely, Phelix is learning. He still barks, but he’s barking less. He still pees in the house sometimes, but not quite as much. He did very well at his fourth doggie class, too. This week, Phelix got to go on a long walk to our friends’ house where he played in the fenced
daily photo: rec center
The Decatur Recreation Center will be opening soon! Chloe simply adores the trees out front — they are her favorite kind of “rec center”!
hometown saturday: train bridge
In literature, you sometimes read about life on the south side of the tracks. I always thought this was a bit of a literary “tool”. But now I live in a town separated by tracks. While the southside has now become the “hip” place to live, that was not always the case. Want to share
daily photo: microcar museum
So sad that this lovely collection is going to be auctioned off piece by piece. By so glad that Camille and I were able to see it before it goes.
photo friday: microcar museum
Over the past few weeks, a few different friends on Facebook posted photos from what looked like a very fun museum. In thinking to add it to our “list”, I went to the website and noticed that, unfortunately, it would be closing soon and all the cars auctioned off. So instead of being able to
daily photo: sunset
Aren’t sunsets just lovely? I’d rather watch them than tv any day …
face-to-face with a coworker
I’ve worked from home since before I had a job. My final year of grad school I completed at a distance of fifteen hundred miles. And when I started my first job a month after graduation, my boss and office was almost three thousand miles away — I did spend my first month in the
