Greece Trip: Day 9
We got going a little bit earlier today than yesterday in order to catch an earlier bus to Thira. After another nice breakfast, we walked down to the Kamari bus stop and waited for the bus. In Thira, we switched to the bus to Akrotiri. Though worried the bus would drop us in town, after

Let the girls sleep in until almost 9am. Breakfast, relax, beach, snacks, relax. Bus ride to Thira to get bus to Oia. Explore Oia – girls loved the bookstore! Lupper at a restaurant with a lovely view. Bus to Thira then to Kamari.
Greece Trip: Day 8
Last night, we decided today would be a “slow” day. Even so, I couldn’t sleep past 7:30. While I worked on my trip photos and summaries, I let the girls sleep until almost 9. Once they were up and ready, we went down to breakfast. A large buffet of cheese, eggs, pastries, fruit, yogurt and

Alarm for 5am. Girls and I got up and finished packing, then went down for a small breakfast just before 6am. Taxi to the ferry. Staked out a great table in the lounge. Read, slept, relaxed. Ordered coffee and croissants for a second breakfast 5 hours after our first. Ferry stops in Paros, Naxos and
Greece Trip: Day 7
Our alarm went off early this morning so we could get up, dressed, packed and down to breakfast before 6am. The taxi had already arrived when I went down to check out. The trip to the port was quick; a little too quick for Chloe, though. We made our way onto the ferry and found

Early morning in order to catch our tour bus to Delphi. A lot of waiting. A 2.5 hour trip to Mount Parnassus. A wet and slightly rushed trip through Delphi and the museum. A so-so lunch. A long bus ride back to Athens. A stroll to the Japanese store and the mini-market.
Greece Trip: Day 6
I set my alarm early to have time to wake before having to get the girls moving. Around 6, I felt a “boom” like a cannon and figured it was just some military-type morning ceremony near the presidential palace. Later we learned that a car bomb had gone off a few blocks from our hotel.

We (finally) slept in past 8am. After breakfast, we went to the changing of the guard, Hadrian’s Library, the Roman Agora, the Ancinet Agora, the market at Monastariki and then a late lunch. We had a quiet evening at the hotel getting ready for the next few days of busyness.
Greece Trip: Day 5
No wake up alarm today! This might be the only morning on the trip where we all could sleep in a little bit. Even so, we could all feel that our bodies are just exhausted from the pace we’ve been keeping. The breakfast buffet here was a little better than in the last hotel. At

Woke up on the ferry as it came into port. Quickly packed up and disembarked, then trekked over to the train station. Breakfast in the station coffee shop. Train into central Athens. Checked-in to hotel, but too early for room. Hiked from hotel up to the top of the Acropolis where we spent a long
Greece Trip: Day 4
My alarm went off, but I was not ready to get up. After a few hits on the snooze button, I noticed lights outside. I got everyone up and dressed quickly so we’d be ready to disembark when the boat finally docked. Knowing where we were and where we were going was helpful, though we

A slow, rainy morning. Breakfast at the hotel (ick). A walk in the rain by the fortress. Lunch up on Lion Square. An afternoon of gaming at the comics and game shop. A swing by the hotel to get our bags and a walk along the water (led by our new puppy friend) to the
Greece Trip: Day 3
I set my alarm to go off early in order to check the weather report. As the report still indicated a high chance of rain all day, we decided to forgo the two hour bus trip to the beach and instead chose to have a quiet and easy day in Heraklion instead. We took our
celebrations: week 15 (7-13 apr 2014)
Again, Iโve not been keeping up with the holidays very well at the moment, so we ended up not celebrating a single one of the fundays this past week! And I don’t know we’ll get in any this coming week. We’ll see! Coming up this week: 7: National No Housework Day and Coffee Cake Day

Up early as the ferry pulled into port a bit after 6am. We disembarked and made our way down the street to our hotel where we left our suitcases before walking over to the bus station and hoping on a bus to Knossos. After a lovely, relaxing breakfast, we explored Knossos leisurely. Back in Heraklion,
Greece Trip: Day 2
I set my alarm for 5am (10pm back in Atlanta) in order to get up with time to take care of a few things, get dressed, get packed and get the others up before the ferry arrived in Crete. Once the ferry docked, we checked out of our cabin and disembarked. After a walk along

We landed at CDG just after 6 and had an hour to get to our next flight. Despite a bus tour of the airport and a security mishap, we still made our flight! In Athens, we rested in the airport (free wi-fi) for a while, then got not he bus to Piraeus, where we walked
Greece Trip: Day 1
After just a few hours of sleep, it was time to start into a full day of travel beginning in Paris. We slowly got off the plane, navigating down the jet stairs to the tarmac and climbing on a bus. After a tour of the airport, we arrived. With no signs and no boards telling

Greece Trip: Day 0
Time to hit the road! And the skies! And the rails! And the water! With a LONG trip ahead of us to get to Crete, I tried to make sure the girls got enough sleep, but I was too wired to get settled myself. 5am came way too fast. But I was up and started
