photo friday: ring of kerry
Ok, I admit. I’m bored of my own Ireland posts. But I’ve committed to finishing them before I move on to more recent travels. And I actually do enjoy looking at the photos from what might have been our last big family trip … Camille will head to college soon, and the era of family

photo friday: dublin parks
When the kids were younger, we always made a point of seeking out great parks while on our travels. We looked for fun and different playgrounds, places for them to explore, and open spaces to balance out being in the confines of cars, museums, hotel rooms. Now that they are a bit older, we don’t
photo friday: decorative arts
While in Dublin, we let Camille choose something she wanted to do … she chose the Decorative Arts & History Museum. My mom, Camille and I walked over there and spend a couple of hours exploring. We let Camille go off on her own after a bit, and Camille enjoyed her time there.
photo friday: shopping in dublin
I’m not much of a shopper, but we seemed to go to many, many stores while in Dublin. The girls didn’t buy much at them, but it was fun seeing what was available….
photo friday: river liffey
Our apartment in Dublin — while having a myriad of ridiculous issues (wi-fi doesn’t always mean wi-fi), was in an excellent location. We could even see the River Liffey from every window. And, so, it was a central point of our explorations of Dublin.
the sound of silence
As I planned my trip to France, I started to think about things to do while I was in the area around Nice. I’ve been to most of the touristy places in the area and wanted to do something different. On the same day, I came across the Lerins Islands and a friend recommended them
atlanta: arabia mountain
On Thursday, Phelix and I headed out to his happy place, Arabia. I didn’t expect it to be as dry as it was – even Phelix’s creek was an empty creek bed. But what I really didn’t expect was the fall flowers! Yellow daisies EVERYWHERE!
photo friday: claddagh and galway bay
While in Galway, we left the car in the parking garage and walked everywhere. Walking along the harbor area was particularly fun as we explored the city.
atlanta: munro light
As often happens, that which I want to do gets put off and put off. For a change, I kept my eye on the dates and, though it got done to the wire, insisted on going. Thankfully, despite homework and activities, the girls happily joined me to see Bruce Munro: Light in the Garden at
photo friday: salthill
On one of our days in Galway, we walked along the beach to Salthill, spotting the apartment we stayed at when we were here in 2003. Chloe and I went to the Galway Aquarium while Camille and Barbara went to eat Fish and Chips. Then we walked through Salthill, stopping in at the arcade for
photo friday: inis oirr
On one of our days in Galway, we took the ferry over to Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands. Daily trip diary entry.
photo friday: antrim coast
My final post from Northern Ireland – places we went along the Antrim Coast OTHER than Giant’s Causeway. Unfortunately, the day was windy and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge was not open.
photo friday: giant’s causeway
We made it! Giant’s Causeway had been on my wish list for years and years, and I wasn’t going to pass up the chance to go while we were in Ireland. The trip there was long, but I am so glad that we finally got to see this amazing place.
photo friday: causeway coast way
From our apartment in Portballintrae near the Giants’ Causeway in Northern Ireland, my mom, Chloe and I walked along the Causeway Railway to the Causeway Coast Way. Instead of following the tracks straight to the Giants’ Causeway, we turned towards the sea and found breathtaking views, wind, and more geocaches.
photo friday: nine hours at JFK
When we booked our tickets to Ireland, we had a nice, reasonable layover at JFK. But with schedule changes, our layover at JFK increased to be NINE hours. Nine hours!! Who wants to spend nine hours in an airport? Instead, the girls and I looked into heading into the city for a couple of hours
photo friday: tiger stores
TIGER! Have you been Tiger? Rob and the girls stopped by one in Dublin and were impressed, but then we kept seeing them. Everywhere. A short search brought me to New to the US: Danish Tiger Store’s Colorful, Inexpensive Home Goods. Yep, that’s right. And we’re in love. When we finally stumbled upon the one
photo friday: beach bums
While walking the beach at Hilton Head, we observed some of the local fauna. Lots of jellyfish, crabs and others.

off the beaten path
Hurry, hurry, hurry. Gotta to get it all done and there’s no time to do it all! I feel like I’e been living this way recently, and I need to find a way to reset it.(Once I get everything done!) I still have a long laundry list of things that need to be done before
