photo friday: austin city limits
Two weekends ago, the girls and I made our annual pilgrimage to Austin for the Austin City Limits Music Festval. We love hanging out at “Austin Kiddie Limits”, listening to great bands, sampling local food and digging in the sand on Zilker Beach. This is an entry for Delicious Babyโs Photo Friday
Photo Friday: Dragon*Con
Three weeks ago, we didn’t go out of town. But we traveled … to the alternate universe that is Dragon*Con. If you ever find yourself in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend, do not be surprised if you see stormtroopers, wizards and superheroes on the train. We headed downtown for the Saturday morning parade; the streets
decatur book fest – 4 sep 2011
I arrived a little bit early for m volunteer shift at the Decatur Book Festival — things were just starting to get set up.
live in concert – justin roberts
a week ago, the girls and I were on our way home from Chicago. Earlier in the month, I had begun to work earnestly on a calendar of “kindie events” and was thrilled to see that Justin Roberts would be performing in Champaign, IL, right as we were heading home. We arrived in Champaign-Urbana (everyone
Dragon*Con – 3 sep 2011
Rob and the girls at Dragon*Con today. Rob actually marched in the parade. It was bizarre the number of people who asked for photos of Chloe and Rob.
live in concert – ralph’s world
We’ve been planning all summer to make a trip up to Chicago but have been waiting for a convenient weekend that would also include at least one or two kindie concerts. And, finally, we managed to make it up north on the last weekend of August. As we were delivering a large object, we decided
live in concert: OneVoice Rocks!
When I first heard about the OneVoice Rocks! Festival, I knew the girls and I had to get there. Some of our favorite bands (SE rockers Lunch Money, Seattle’s Best Recess Monkey, hometown hero Robbie Schaefer) coming together? To play live music? For a great cause? Near where we love to be? How could we
live in concert: lunch money
Spur of the moment (sort of), we decided to take an overnight trip up to Chattanooga. We’ve been wanting to return for a couple years now and hearing that Lunch Money, our favorite kindie band from South Carolina, would be having a concert there made it seem like an ideal time to go. We’ve been
Thoughts: (Minor) Emergency at Ground Zero
A little over a week ago, the girls and I were planning out how to spend our final day in New York City. I had already taken them to a new museum (the Guggenheim), a new park (Central Park), a fun exhibit (the Harry Potter Exhibition, great concerts (Sirius/XM) old haunts (Times Square, Coney Island,
Photo Friday: Hanging out at Sirius/XM in NYC
Last Friday, we were fortunate enough to be invited to attend an amazing concert being broadcast live on the air from the recording studio high above Rockefeller Center. What an honor it was for us to get to hang out with so many of our musician friends, wander in and out of the green room
Photo Friday: RenFest
For a few years now, we have made a tradition of heading just south of Atlanta on a spring weekend to attend the Georgia Renaissance Festival. The girls love just about everything about it. The shows, ranging from acrobatics to jousting to craftspeople showing their crafts, are lots of fun to watch. The people in
RenFest
Last Sunday, after the girls found all of their eggs, we headed down to the Georgia Renaissance Festival. Depsite being overwhelmed with I wanted to get done, I knew the girls really wanted to go, and this was the weekend for it. As we head towards summer, it gets hotter and hotter. We only have
Peace, Love and Bugs
Saturday, after the Pine Lake Easter Egg Hunt, the girls and I went to UUCA to Peace, Love and Bugs. I thought the girls would get a kick out of checking out all the poptops, and they did! As it was a VW event, we decided it would be best to take Evie to it.
renfest – 24 apr 2011
Chloe loves the rides at RenFest — all human powered in one way or another …
Photo Friday: Austin’s Captiol 10K
Last weekend, Chloe and I flew to Austin to celebrate my mom’s birthday. While there, we visited the J. Lorraine Ghost Town and also went to the Austin American-Statesman Capital 10K. While the rest of the family participated in the race, Chloe and I took our time getting from starting line to finish line and
Cirque du Soleil: OVO
The girls and I logged quite a large number of miles in our car last month. As usual, we spent quite a large part of our time tuned into Sirius/XM Kids Place Live. One evening, Robbie Schaefer interviewed a number of performers and other folk involved in Cirque du Soleil’s OVO. Chloe was so excited
Photo Friday: Boerne, TX
While we were in TX for two weeks at the start of the month, I promised the girls that we would do some day trips beyond Georgetown/Austin. The first weekend, we headed to San Antonio. For the second weekend, we did not take off an overnight trip, but we did explore two places new to
LEAF with Kids
We returned from our trip to Texas for Austin City Limits on Wednesday evening, spent a day of absolute craziness on Thursday (work, 4+ hours of homeschool classes, grocery shopping, library, gymnastics, unpacking, laundry, packing), and headed out again on Friday. While it made for an extremely stressful turnover, it was well worth it. Friday

We returned from our trip to Texas on a week ago Wednesday evening and spent a day of absolute craziness on Thursday (work, 4+ hours of homeschool classes, grocery shopping, library, gymnastics, unpacking, laundry, packing). Friday morning, as early as we could, we headed out with a fully packed car to Black Mountain, NC, for
Photo Friday: Austin City Limits
It’s hard for me to believe it has already been a week since the first day of our three-days at Austin City Limits. In the four days since, we’ve driven back to Atlanta, unpacked and packed for today’s adventure. But, while we were there, we had a great time. Great music, friends, food, and fun!
