foreshore ripple.
The same, but different every day. Without Google, it would have taken me weeks to learn the name “foreshore ripples”. I would love to make a time lapse video of low tide on one of the bay beaches in order to study how the ripples change from tide to tide. Do they stay the same?
photo friday: cape cod winter
As much as I love the Cape in the summer, I think I might love it in the winter even more. It’s quiet and relaxed. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and peaceful. I wish we had been able to spend more time, but there’s always next time!

Snow on the bay! Such a strange sight to see the snow mixing with the salt water in the shallows …. I hope to one day see snow on the beach at low tide!

Cape Cod in the winter is beautiful!

The beach! Chloe and I both love being at the beach…
photo friday: nantucket
While we were on the Cape, Chloe and I rode the Nantucket Ferry over to Nantucket one day. We had lunch, shopped in town, walked to Jetty Beach, rode the bus back, and explored. We had a wonderful day!
photo friday: driftwood beach
A beautiful, surreal beach. And every time we’ve gone – it is practically deserted!
photo friday: sand dollars
You have to watch where you step, because the beach at Jekyll is littered with these guys. I’m never sure if I should toss them back into the ocean or leave them where they are …
photo friday: china beach
Beach. The beach. Any beach. It has been far too long. I wish I lived as close to the beach as my sister does!!
photo friday: china beach
Just a short walk from my sister’s place is China Beach. I love walking down there and dipping my feet in the Pacific and marveling that she gets to live in such a beautiful place!
photo friday: bandon oregon
While on our out west, spring break, college tour trip, we spent the night between Portland and San Francisco along the coast in Bandon, Oregon. A sweet little town with a gorgeous beach! I’d love to return some day to spend little more time exploring the area.
bandon beach.
THough it ended up putting us behind schedule, I love prolonging our stay in Bandon!
photo friday: coney island
If I can make it happen, I try to get out to Coney Island on every trip to the city. A nice train ride down to the beach. Unfortunately, our past two trips have been in November and January — not a great time to go to the beach! Our next trip will be in
photo friday: florida beaches
While in Florida over Christmas break, the girls and I had the chance to visit two beaches, Casey Key and Casperson Beach. I much preferred Casey Key! But either way, we got to go to the beach!
photo friday: promenade in cannes
As the time for my trip to France approached, the weather reports were getting worse and worse. Rain, rain, and rain for my weekend in Cannes, where I had planned to be outside the whole time. While it was raining when I landed much later than expected, Saturday morning was cloudy, but not rainy. I
photo friday: st simons
This fall has been a stressful one in terms of work. Always behind, can’t seem to catch up. And, unfortunately, this made our first trip to Saint Simons not nearly as fun as it should have been. Lovely place, and I look forward to returning someday.
photo friday: cape cod
In addition to three weeks in Galway this summer, we spent a week on Cape Cod with Rob’s family. I had work to do – catching up after Ireland – so spent most of my down time relaxing at the house and driving the kids around. But in a lovely place!
photo friday: martha’s vineyard
Back in July, we spent a week on the Cape (Cod, for those of you who might be unsure to which Cape I am referring). I had one big wish – to take the ferry out to either Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. So on Monday, we loaded up our bags and drove to the big

Ok, I admit. I’m bored of my own Ireland posts. But I’ve committed to finishing them before I move on to more recent travels. And I actually do enjoy looking at the photos from what might have been our last big family trip … Camille will head to college soon, and the era of family

On one of our days in Galway, we took the ferry over to Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands. Daily trip diary entry.
