photo friday: edisto island aka The Beach
My final photo Friday from winter break at Edisto Island. I guess it is now time for us to head back to the beach!
photo friday: lovely light at edisto beach state park
One of my favorite things to do while at the beach is to get up early and watch the sun rise. While it was a bit too chilly for me to want to spen too much time on the beach so early in the morning, I did manage to get oout of my warm sleeping

February break. I don’t have enough vacation days to take the week off and go somewhere far flung. But I also hate to see a break pass without an outing or special trip of some sort. Like last February, I decided to head to Edisto Island State Park. camping site practically on the beach, and
photo friday: high falls friends
Rarely do we travel with friends, but when we do, the girls love it! Scheduling and planning is a bit more difficult, but well worth it.
photo friday: high falls state park sunrise
On the final morning of our three day weekend at High Falls State Park, I managed to get up early enough to see the misty fog rising off the river and the sunrising through it. Beautiful!
photo friday: high falls yurts
For the long weekend in January, I was finally able to do something I had been wanting to do for a long time…stay in one of the Georgia State Park yurts! We had been warned that they don’t hold heat well, so we stocked up on blankets and sleeping bags. However, the yurts at High
photo friday: black rock mountain state park
Back in November, I packed up Evie, and Phelix and I headed up to Black Rock Mountain State Park for the weekend. The drive up was beautiful – fall colors all around. The final mile of driving was twisty and curvy – wouldn’t want to do that in less than ideal conditions! The staff were
photo friday: My girls at LEAF
The girls and I had a lovely weekend at LEAF, now almost four months ago. I don’t know if and when we’ll return to LEAF, but we sure did make good friends and memories on our many weekends there. photo friday: LEAF fun – (oct 2013) photo friday: LEAF food (oct 2013) photo friday: lake
photo friday: LEAF fun
While at the Lake Eden Arts Festival, we don’t just listen to music, look at art and eat, there’s also lots to do and time to sit quietly. Chloe loves the more active things, from the kids’ village to the zipline. Camille often opts for the quieter activities like drawing, reading and knitting.
photo friday: lake eden ARTS festival
ONe of the things I love about LEAF is all of the ART. Not just the artists’ art that is for sale, but all the creative art that can be found in every nook and cranny!
photo friday: Lake Eden
What does LEAF stand for, you ask? Lake Eden Arts Festival! And what about this Lake Eden? Well, it is the lovely centerpiece to the music, food, art, and activities of the weekend.
photo friday: LEAF food
For our first trip to LEAF, I brought along all our camping cooking equipment and food. Through the years, I’ve brought less and less with me each time. Why? The food at LEAF is amazing. Even the coffee is good. Plenty of vegetarian friendly options. Good ones. GREAT ones. So good that I could eat
photo friday: austin city limits
For the seventh year in a row, we made our pilgrimage to Austin for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. With both girls in school now, it was a whirlwind of a trip. Drive 900 miles on Thursday. Go to three full days of music. Drive 900 miles home on Monday. But it was very
photo friday: fort pulaski
While we were in Tybee Island back in September, we decided to spen a few hours exploring Fort Pulaski. Unfortunately, just as we got there, the skies turned dark and we were up against a thunderstorm. Due to the lightning, we couldn’t stay up on the ramparts, but e did enjoy exploring the various rooms
photo friday: savannah, ga
While in Tybee Island in September, we decided to take a day to visit Savannah. Having never been there before, and because of the heat, we decided to try out one of the off-on trolley tours. While it was a fun way to see some of the old city, I don’t think we’d opt for
photo friday: pretty light in tybee island
The light in the early morning and evening is always so lovely, especially at the beach!
photo friday: red top mountain
A couple of months ago, we headed up to Red Top Mountain State Park. So close to Atlanta, yet we had never been! Phelix and I got there first and set up the campsite. Rob and the girls came later after gymnastics. Camille and I had a lovely weekend of unwinding at the campsite for
photo friday: lieutenant island
For our summer vacation this year, we headed up to Cape Cod to join my parents and sister and Luis for a week at the beach. The house my mom found was on a lovely little island called “Lieutenant Island” on the bay side of Wellfleet. This “for residents only” island is connected to the
photo friday: whale watching
While on Cape Cod this summer, one thing I knew we must do was to take Chloe on a whale watch. She insists on going to every aquarium we see and cannot get enough of marine animals. And boat rides, from ferries to kayaks are also high on her list. Despite the sudden, unexpected rain
photo friday: a few hours in washington, dc
I was so happy that day back in July when a Rumpus Room invitation came in my email – a concert that coincided perfectly with our roadtrip up to Cape Cod! It had been such a long time since the last time we were able to attend a concert at XM! Instead of planning to
