instagram: summer
Some friends came over this evening for a simple dinner by the pool and a nice long swim. I’m sorry to see summer ending so soon.

Rob is around Decatur this week at a conference. Yesterday, he took a volatile Chloe out to lunch after she and I returned form her doctor’s appointment. WHile out, they went by Little Shop of Stories and used up some of Chloe’s gift certificates. One of Chloe’s “purchases” was this Jenga-like balancing game.
instagram: pool time
At long last, we had some pool time once again. Chloe loved swimming with her two new friends from downstairs. I just hope that the older girl is not in Chloe’s class. As terrible as it sounds, Chloe’s class lsat year was full of drama, and I’d love her to be able to come home
instagram: home!
The girls and I drove the 900 miles home in 15 hours today, stopping twice along the way for gas/food. It was nice to get home, though I still often think of Pine Lake, not Decatur, as home.

My sister has a big dinner out with all her friends in Austin each year. This year both she and Luis and me and the girls were there so it turned into a friends and family affair, which was especially fun after we had all spent so much time together at the wedding earlier this
instagram: shared cake
Chloe and Barbara planned a special cake for Chloe and Susannah to share. They finally got it all decorated, and we celebrated two birthdays at the same time.
photo friday: circle line
While Camille and I were in NYC a few months ago, we needed to find somehting we could do Monday morning with our backpacks. I had been trying to get the girls to take a Circle Line cruise for years, and I decided that would work well. We walked down to the pier; when we

More slide watching again. We’re finally up to me as a baby. Here I am posing as a pair of shoes for sale in Yugoslavia. Guess I didn’t muh appreciate my first trip to Europe.

Tonight was slideshow night. This awesome pic is of my maternal grandparent in mymom’s car, the “jolly green puddle jumper”, in California.

This longhorn, sculpted from guns, tools and other “junk”, stands guard at the public library.
instagram: color inspiration
Now that more light is coming into the condo with the removal of the scaffolding on the adjacent exterior wall, I’m more than ever ready to get some color onto the walls. I’ve been getting all sorts of ideas from Fab.com and from Pinterest, and I’m finally starting to pull them altogether. Now, do we
instagram: double rainbow
When we reached Georgetown after a harrowing drive, we were greeted by a lovely double rainbow in the sky !!

I had no idea that the view from Turner Field was SOO spectacular!!

A couple weeks ago, the girls and I spent the weekend cleaning up at the cabin. We did get out for a couple field trips, but I never really got to sit and enjoy the cleaned up space. I came up for one night to relax, enjoy the quiet and make sure everything was put
photo friday: the high line
In my huge “notes” document, I keep a list of things I want to see, organized by city. Whenever I come across something interesting, I jot it down. NYC’s High Line had been added to the list about 4 times in the past couple of years, so I knew it had to be the top
instagram: new balcony
Today the scaffolding crawled up our side of the building and went right up past our windows. Now the construction workers can stand right outside my windows — and Gazoo can’t go out at all, poor kitty.
instagram: mighty high coup
More stickeriti found in Decatur.

After a busy day at work, taking care of an on-again, off-again sick girl (more to come on that), I just had no dinner plans. Camille had a friend over and was more into catching up with her than cooking (that’s good). So we headed out across the street to TacoMac…

Our seventeenth wedding anniversary was yesterday…
instagram: happy plants
Having brought the pots in from outside, I could see how terrible they looked. Only the rosemary survived the winter; the other plants were “volunteers” from bird seed and had mostly already wilted away from the heat. Chloe and I stopped by Ace and picked up a number of nice looking herbs. The bench now
