instagram: tybee beach day
A very lovely, laid-back day. A walk to the lighthouse, a 178-step climb to the top of the lighthouse, a dip in the pool, and afternoon of playing in the waves at the beach, an evening movie at the campground.

After a bit of a later arrival than hoped and setting up our campsite and then a dip in the pool to cool off, the girls and I set off on our bikes to explore. We didn’t get very far, but we did find the lighthouse, the ice cream place and the beach…

Back in August, Camille and I loaded up Evie (our VW pop top), swung by Chloe’s school to pick her up and headed south to Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park for a weekend of camping and history studies. We arrived around 7pm, so the office was closed, but we found our way to the campground and

My back hurt today, and Camille really helped me to make sure everything that needed to get done got done while I got my work done and little else.

Chloe had a nice day hanging out with friends. She went off to paint pottery with them, then they all came back here for dinner by the pool. So nice to have friends living in the same building!

The Atlantic Ocean is not exactly on the way home to Decatur from Orlando, but I figured it was worth the detour. The side-trip added six hours to our trip, but we not only got to stop at the Spanish Fort in St. Augustine, but we drove along the beach for miles and miles and

Our other reason for heading to Orlando for a couple days is that Chloe is now finally tall enough to go on the Hogwarts ride at Universal. Last time we came, she was too short — and very disappointed. And no, at last, she’s gotten to go on it — a handful of times, even!

It was a very, very rainy day at Legoland. The water park never opened — it was the reason we came! Oh well. Once the rides opened up, we had the park pretty much to ourselves. We didn’t find the VW poptop at Legoland but at the Lego store at Downtown Disney ….

Now that we have our own “hotel” style pool, getting to go swim at a hotel isn’t as much fun. But the girls and I did swim for a little in the evening just to get out of the hotel room for a bit ….

Spotting these at Target *almost* made shopping fun, but only just almost.
photo friday: georgia veterans state park
After our Saturday morning hike at Ocmulgee National Monument, we headed south to Georgia Veterans State Park. Silly us, we had brought our own watermelon to south Georgia. We saw BUSLOADS of watermelons as we drove the backroads to the park. Truly and honestly, busloads. One day, I want to get pictures of these buses
instagram: bad day
I had a sort of bad day today. Nothing terrible, just one small annoying thing after another. I think I caught Camille’s “Dragon*Con” achy body/feverish cold. My back still hurts. I managed to lose my gate card despite NOT LEAVING the car — I lost it while driving Chloe to gymnastics?!? I felt stuck at
instagram: decatur square
Camille and I wandered over to the square this afternoon to have a little picnic lunch while enjoying the concert on the square. I won a gift certificate to a local bar that I’ve never been to and really don’t want to go to … I hope that Rob can use it, at least.

Part of Chloe’s homework is to read 30 minutes each night. While it seems reasonable, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Chloe gets home from school, changes and heads out to gymnastics for 3 hours. When she gets home at 7pm, she needs to eat, shower and do her other homework. Since she has to go to

Camille and I spent the morning cleaning the condo and then the afternoon watching Game of Thrones. I don’t like cleaning, but I do like a clean home. And I like spending time with Camille.

Despite throwing my back out yesterday on my way to my volunteer assignment, I did manage to get off the couch and over to the “On the Same Page” announcement at the Children’s Stage. Thankfully, that venue happened to be in my backyard, so I did not have to go very far at all.

New library cards available at the library today! After years of not having one, I finally have a library card on my keyring once again, and it is a cool one!
instagram: quiet evening
After my volunteer shift at the book fest, I picked up a couple movies at the library and headed home for a very quiet evening alone.
photo friday: medieval times
Back in June, Rob, the girls and I spent an evening at Medieval Times. Rob and Camille had gone before, but this was the first time that Chloe and I had been. And we had a blast cheering on the Blue Knight…who did not win, unfortunately. At the end, Chloe insisted on staying and getting

The rest of the family is busy with their Dragon*Con preparations; I’m looking forward to a couple of quiet, responsibility-free (other than my volunteer shifts at the Decatur Book Fest) couple of days….
