instagram: homework
Despite all the school Chloe has missed over the past few weeks, she seems to be keeping up quite nicely. Unfortunately, despite my trying to make sure Chloe got all her homework done before Rob got home, she had a panic attack in the evening about work that she “forgot” she needed to get done.
instagram: lego overload
I gathered up all of the LEGOs hidden in every closet, bench and bucket and put them all in one place. That was the easy part — now we need to figure out what to keep and how to store them compactly…

The rest of the family is off at LEAF. I’m stuck home being sick. But relaxation doesn’t come easy to me. I’ve spent the day decluttering and cleaning. Given that we’ve only been here a year, an amazing amount of crap has built up already. Admittedly, we did move a few things without really sorting
instagram: counter cat
Along with liking to hang out in my basement, Gazoo loves to hang out on the counter, especially when the dishwasher is running.
instagram: stay alert
I spent most of the day in bed, but I managed to get up, showered and dressed in order to go to my “Citizens’ Police Academy” class tonight. It was interesting, even though I had a terrible time staying awake, despite sipping my Coke Zero throughout the class….
instagram: silly cat
Gazoo kitty likes to hang out in my bathroom. In the dark. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost tripped on her! I suppose it is her “cat cave”.
instagram: sickbed
I am sick, sick, sick. I don’t know if I made it out of the bedroom other than to get to the couch today. I had to sleep all day. Never even touched a computer — emailed my manager from my iPhone to let him know I wouldn’t be at work.
instagram: mississippi bridge
This drive home from Texas was my longest and worst ever. High fever, chills, sweats, horrid coughing, headache, body aches and exhaustion are not great companions on a long drive.
instagram: kindie girls
Camille and Ella have gotten to know each other over the past six years of ending up at kids’ music events to which their parents “drag them”. But when these events include things like Austin City Limits, who can complain?
instagram: at the shins
Chloe and I waited in line for almost the whole set, and our patience paid off. For the final two songs, we were able to watch from the “wings” of the stage!! What a treat!
instagram: C3 guests
Look what was waiting for us went we got to the Austin City Limits Music Festival today! Special wristbands that let us go “sidestage” and have soem extra perks. Very nice, and very much appreciated!
photo friday: islands of (wet) adventure
One of the reasons we returned to the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal’s Islands of Adventure was that Chloe was finally, at long last, tall enough to ride on the castle ride. And she rode it, over and over again. While we did end up spending a large portion of the day shopping,
instagram: temple rain
Somehow it never seems to fail. When I drive through Temple, TX, on I-35 it is either raining or hailing. Yet again today, perfect clear blue skies for the WHOLE TRIP, except for the blinding rain in Temple.
instagram: early to bed
While I could practically make the drive from Atlanta to Texas with my eyes shut, I do prefer to have a good night’s sleep the night before the drive. I’m shooting for leaving at 5am, but I suspect we will end up leaving a bit after that as something always seems to come up at
instagram: little sickie
Chloe got sick again this weekend. And had to stay home from school again. Hopefully she’s on the mend now as we have some big adventures awaiting us.
instagram: lakefest flags
What a lovely time we had tonight at Lakefest today!
instagram: pine lake lakefest
As we wandered around Pine Lake, I was reminded of how much I really love that place. I miss it so much. The people, the lake, the feeling of “home” that I get every single time I drive into our tiny little city.
instagram: content kitty
A very content Gazoo spent the afternoon curled up on the couch enjoying the autumn breezes.
photo friday: legoland independence
While I only mention it here and there, I am very much a supporter of Free Range Kids. In fact, one reason that we moved to Decatur was so that my girls could have more freedom to take themselves to the places they want to go — the library, the yarn store, school(!), the yogurt
instagram: autumn is coming
As I walked up the very dark stairwell at the police station, I had the ominous realization that autumn is on its way. And that Decatur is far overdue for a new police station too.
