Chloe’s been having a Pine Lake birthday. In the morning we went to the Beach House for the pancake breakfast, then back to the house for presents. Mid-afternoon we had lunch at The Kingfisher Cafe up the street. Tonight, if the rain holds off, will be fire dancing at the beach! Happy Birthday, Chloe!

Queen Chloe and the Broken Touch
It never fails. Give something to Chloe, and it gets broken. So it should have come as no surprise to me that she spent lunch yesterday staring at a machine that was destroying a buliding nearby and then announced “I want to be a destruction worker when I grow up!”

while the sister is away
Rob took Camille out to Medieval Times for her birthday dinner (exactly two months after her birthday). Chloe came up with a big list of things that she wanted to do while Camille was out of the house (way). First she wanted to paint. Then she wanted to play “Scrambled States of America” with me.

Chloe had a big day. She got to ride in her new “big girl car seat”. It is still a 5-pt harness, but she can buckle it on her own, and it even has a cup holder! (She can’t unbuckle it, unfortunately.) She had her first cavity filled (and didn’t once complain). She also wrote

I admit, I don’t follow fashions. I have no clue. I wear what’s comfortable and easy to buy. Cotton is prefer, usually in subdued colors. Chloe also follows her own style. The nurse at the pediatrician asked if Chloe could dress herself. I responded “Um, look at her, what do you think?”

The past two days, Chloe (age 4) has gone out of her way to pick up after herself and help me with other chores around the house. I don’t think she’s “angling” for anything, but she is certainly proud of all the work she has done, such as making her bed, putting away her clean

Photography fills my idle time. When I’m alone with Camille, we can both stay busy with her homeschooling work or by reading, but when I’m alone with Chloe, I take on the role of photographer to avoid being cast in the role of jungle gym.
