happiness project monthly breakdown: exercise (aug)
August is the “Exercise” month in my Happiness Project. In 2014 and 2015, I vowed to do more exercise. And over the years, I started to walk more and hike more. Finally last October, I joined a gym in order to get more weight training. I keep track daily of how much exercise I get,
happiness project monthly breakdown: career (jul)
July is the “Work/Career” month in my Happiness Project. In 2014 and 2015, I did not do very much on this topic. For the past few years, I’ve been coasting along at work. I work hard at what I do and keep my skills up-to-date, but I want to do even better than that. My
happiness project monthly breakdown: blogs (jun)
June is the “Blogs” month in my Happiness Project. In 2014 and 2015, I spent hours and hours cleaning up all of my blogs. I moved any remaining content on Blogger over to WordPress. I merged some blogs. I found new owners for some blogs and websites (for example: UUHomeshool, PLAIN, and KPL Fans). I
happiness project monthly breakdown: volunteer (may)
May is the “Volunteer” month in my Happiness Project. In 2014 and 2015, I primarily reviewed my current commitments. During the month of May, I assess how I want to move forward with my “disaster” volunteering and what online or in person classes I might want to take over the coming year. I also work

Create, Project 45, and the monthly projects in my Happiness Project … so many projects! In reality, they are all facets of the same project, guiding me to finish or give up old projects and move forward on the ones that are most important to me. February’s main theme was Appearance. I didn’t do anything
happiness project monthly breakdown: cooking/creations (apr)
April is the “Cooking and Creations” month in my Happiness Project. In 2014 and 2015, the topic was focused on cooking. This year, I added creations to the list, since 2016 is “Create”. I have spent the past couple of years working to organize my online recipes – ones I like I print out and
happiness project monthly breakdown: house (mar)
March is the “House” month in my Happiness Project: 2014 and 2015. As there are no “overreaching” projects that I want to tackle for the house, March is when I update my “house project” planning list. I had more projects in the past years as I was still working on the original “decorating” of our
happiness project monthly breakdown: appearance (feb)
When I first started the monthly breakdown, Social Networking was assigned to the month of February. After a year of Simplifying, I was able to combine Social Networks and “Friends and Family” into one month, January. So I had February free. I decided to assign a new topic, Appearance, to February. As I’ve mentioned before,

Project45
Earlier this week, I turned 45. Another year has gone by. And I still feel as though I didn’t move ahead enough on my goals. However, I have moved ahead… What I have managed to accomplish in the past two years makes me proud. I still have a ways to go, for sure, but I
happiness project: monthly breakdown
Back in April of 2011, I read The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun by Gretchen Rubin and was inspired to start my own Happiness Project. Since then, life has gotten in the way, and
thrive in place.
I think this has to be the title of my next (aka first) book. Maybe I should claim the URL if it hasn’t been already. Alas, looks like ThriveInPlace.com has been claimed already. But “Thrive in Place” (derived from Shelter In Place), has been my mantra for years now. I don’t love Atlanta. I never

happiness project: CREATE (2016)
Here we are closing up the year 2015. And as people do, I’m thinking about what has gone by and how to plan for the new year ahead. 2015 was my year of EMPOWERMENT and ENERGY improvement. While some of the more concrete items on that list (car maintenance class, for example) were not completed,

quitter.
I have NEVER been a quitter. If I start something, I see it through. In many ways, that’s been a good thing. When times are tough, I buckle down and see it through. That’s why I’m DR. Gwyneth. How many times did I think of just quitting, but know that I CAN DO this. And

the sound of silence
As I planned my trip to France, I started to think about things to do while I was in the area around Nice. I’ve been to most of the touristy places in the area and wanted to do something different. On the same day, I came across the Lerins Islands and a friend recommended them
