Silly String Silliness
How lucky we are to live in such a cool little town where a crowd comes out to clean up the tennis courts just so we, kids and adults alike, can spray each other with can after can of silly string. Thanks to my friend and neighbor for arranging the laughter-releasing celebration.

“Texting while operating a motor vehicle” may be illegal in Georgia, but I doubt that taking photos with an SLR is… I hate the texting law — I don’t text while driving (heck, I rarely text!), but the law prohibits me from checking the traffic map while I’m stopped on the interstate — STUPID LAW!

Roadtrip: Discover KSC
Last week after breakfast at our hotel in Cocoa Beach, we headed up the coast just a little ways to Kennedy Space Center. Thinking ahead, Rob had gone online a few days ahead of time to buy entrance tickets and tickets for the Discover KSC Tour. The line at the entrance for tickets was packed,
girls – 4 jan 2011
I worked during the morning, and the girls went to town with my mom during the afternoon. I realized, as it was getting dark out, that I hadn’t taken any photos yet … Here, the girls were watching Jeopardy on my mom’s computer (via Texas)…
Casey Key is Shell Island
While we were in Florida, the wind was biting cold. But that didn’t stop me from getting to the beach. (The beach, always the beach. I can’t imagine living anywhere that is further form a beach than we are now. Six hours from the beach is already too far. I want to be closer to
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Favorites
Happy New Year! I can’t believe it is Tuesday (and back to work after the holidays for me) We’ve returned from our little trip to Florida and are now hanging out in the woods of North Georgia for a few days … I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d
girls – 3 jan 2011
A bit of a wild ride along (not on) the Tellico River in TN today. Icy roads, icky restrooms, incomplete maps, closed roads, hunters. No license plates or signs for Chloe to play the alphabet game. Two coughing girls (they both feel much better, just have a bit of a cough that’s not yet ready
Mondays are for Dreaming: Planning for 2011
Yesterday, as I reviewed our travels from 2010, I was amazed at all the places, new and old, that we visited in one year, and I realized that a simple goal of “travel more in 2011” is neither realistic nor practical. In 2010, I dusted off this old blog, spent time cleaning it up and
resolutions
It’s that time of year again. Time to reflect and time to plan. Time to take stock and time to let go. Along with most folks, I have a laundry list of New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve made them in the past, of course. Some have stuck, while others have only lasted until the first boat-rocking
silly string – 2 jan 2011
I had a hard time picking a favorite photo from today. I liked a lot of the photos form the series of photos I tool at the silly string silliness, but I didn’t love any of them. I wish I had a better eye, and I wished I had gotten more photos of Camille and

Scenes from Our Week
This week, among other things, we drove to Florida and back to spend a couple days with Rob’s parents, spotting interesting sights along the way: We visited the beach on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts: We found lots of cool shells: We went to Kennedy Space Center and Mote Marine Aquarium: We went to
gazoo – 1 jan 2011
Gazoo is quite happy that we came home from Florida and has been sitting on me as much as possible… One of my resolutions for 2011 is to get more comfortable using my external flash, so I dusted it off and used it to take this photo.
Photo Friday: Casey Key
As I’ve mentioned before, the beach is the place I dream of the most. While in Florida earlier this week, we spent a night at Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic coast. But then, we headed across Florida to the gulf coast, and, despite the chilly wind, we spent a bit of time beachcombing on Casey
Roadtrip: Cocoa Beach, FL
At the last minute, we decided to take advantage of our week off from work and activities and head to Florida. I hadn’t been to the beach recently enough and Rob thought it would be a good idea to visit with his parents’. We decided to spend one night at Cocoa Beach and visit Kennedy
Travels in Turkey: Final Thoughts
Travels in Turkey, Part 12 of 12 When I started this series of posts on our trip to Turkey, I had no idea I’d be finishing up with it in the last week of the year. But, here it is, just days away form 2011. Needless to say, Turkey was our biggest family trip of

Christmas!
I can hardly believe that 2010 is coming to a close .. and that Christmas has already been celebrated. But, alas, it has. Our lights and tree will stay up until the 6th, and I couldn’t be happier! I’m not at all ready to take down all of our holiday decorations! As is our family
