Travel Tuesday: Weekly Highlights
Back home Sunday from a long weekend up in DC and Maryland, I’ve fallen behind on my reading and my writing as I try to stay caught up at work. But I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some of
chloe cooking – 24 jan 2011
Chloe loves to help out in the kitchen, chopping veggies for our soup.
weekend report – day one
I can’t believe how long it has been! Just a bit short of a year since we’ve been to my ultimate happy place … The XM recording studio in Washington, DC! Finally, after a year of conflicts, we got back up there this weekend to see Dog on Fleas in the Rumpus Room. Not only
I-81 – 23 jan 2011
For our drive home from Maryland yesterday, we chose to take the backroute, I-81 instead of I-95/I-85. The going is a little slower with all of the mountains, but, thankfully, there were very few trucks and the scenery was quite beautiful.
How do you define a friend?
How do you define a friend? This morning as I was reading through my latest Facebook feed, a post from an old neighbor caught my eye. She was lamenting that screens are taking the place of personal contact and fears for the future of “friends”. I am a facebooker; I admit it. I read it
camille – 22 jan 2011
Today we spent most of the day on the farm in Maryland with our friends. Camille worked on learning to needle felt; Chloe played all day with the boys. We had a nice walk in the evening and rounded up the escaped rooster.
Can you handle the truth?
Is it always better to know the truth, even when it hurts? Or is ignorance bliss? Or are they both true some of the time? Along with my renewed resolve to be authentic, I am working to accept the truth about myself and my world. I am trying to convince myself that either I have
Photo Friday: Fort Lauderdale Wildlife
When swimming at the beach, sea life tends to make me a little nervous. Crabs nipping at my toes, little fish who like to nibble at me, jellyfish ready to sting. But what swam up to Camille last week was something I’d never have expected — manatees!! Unfortunately, she was paying attention to jumping in
sirius/xm – 21 jan 2011
Up at 6:30 after having arrived at midnight, out the door with breakfast in hand by 7:30am, Union Station by 11am. Then off to my happy place at Sirius/XM! Well worth the logistical challenge …
Whatโs the single most important thing you accomplished in 2010?
Whatโs the single most important thing you accomplished in 2010? And how do you plan to top it in 2011 (perhaps by completing your blogging challenge!) Today’s question is stumping me, since the most important things aren’t things I’ve accomplished. They are things I’ve lived and loved! Spending time with my family and discovering new
I85 – 20 jan 2011
Here we go flying up I-85. I hope that the snow in DC is nothing too limiting!
Whatโs the most important thing youโre putting off?
Whatโs the most important thing youโre putting off? And why havenโt you done it yet? What do you need to make it happen? I’m putting off too many important things. But, at the moment, the most important thing I’ve been putting off is going to the doctor. I haven’t been for over three years (I
egg – 19 jan 2011
As part of my “birthday missions” from Absolutely Mindy, I had to carry around an egg for the rest of the day. Chloe decorated it all up for me using googly eyes.

camille – 18 jan 2011
The girls are both very happy to be back home and back to homeschooling! It had been a long time since they had done lessons that they were missing them…
What is the bravest thing?
Looking for some inspiration for just about every aspect of my life today (hello, mid-life crisis!), I stumbled across The Daily Post, an “an experiment in blogging motivation from the folks at WordPress.com”. Today’s topic is Topic: What is the bravest thing? The question immediately brought to mind a blog post I read earlier today
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Highlights
Back home yesterday from a mostly lovely five days in Fort Lauderdale, preparing to head out on the road on Thursday, I’m barely getting through all my reading. But I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some of my favorites
cloudy – 17 jan 2011
Our last day in Fort Lauderdale was a cloudy, rainy one, but Chloe managed to sneak in some time at the pool anyway.
Mondays are for Dreaming: Civilized Air Travel
Sitting in the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, having just had my first TSA pat-down, I can’t help but dream of the days of civilized air travel. As we traveled through Turkey this summer, I was struck by how uncivilized the whole process has become here in the US. As we enter an American airport, I have
Hi Chloe! Bye Chloe!
As I sit here in the hotel room with the sliding door open, I can hear not only the wind and the waves, but the action at the pool three stories down (on the seventh floor — the “in ground” pool is on the seventh floor). What do I hear? Everyone who walks by saying
