Sharing: Do You Write Reviews?
Given that I have come to rely so heavily on various travel reviews, I wonder if others do as well. I generally use TripAdvisor, Yelp and Trekaroo, but I wouldn’t mind adding additional review sites to my bag of tricks … so if you have any to recommend, I’m all ears! Since I’ve come to
gazoo – 9 feb 2011
What is it with that cat? She just *has* to put herself right in the middle of whatever it is we are doing. Here she’s hijacked Camille’s homeschooling….
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Highlights for 8 Feb 2011
Despite having been home a week now, I’m still struggling to stay caught up, and, oops, yes, I didn’t get this posted until Wednesday afternoon despite having started it on Tuesday….. But I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some

olives – 8 feb 2011
Tonight’s dinner included pizza dough topped with olives from New Orleans (a gift from our friends)…. Yum.
One Small Step
A bunch of my friends on Facebook have started to post simple thing they do each day that bring them an “incremental step” towards being who they really want to be. I’ve avoided this movement for a while, but, this weekend, decided it might fit well with my plans to find more energy. There are
dinner – 7 feb 2011
Busy all day without stopping, not even to take one photo. Camille made bread; I made soup. Chloe ate both.
Feeling Better, Though Only Slightly
Today I caught up on hours missed at work last week due to what I now think was a virus (I should have taken a sick day!). I stayed on top of my other “projects”. I did a little more than the minimum amount of homeschooling with the girls. I made chowder from scratch for
Staying: The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale, FL
When Rob told us where his meeting in Fort Lauderdale was to be held, I didn’t want to go. A chance to go to the beach? What’s not to like about that? I was scared, terrified of where we would be staying. No, it wasn’t in a crime ridden part of town that would be
chalkboard paint – 6 feb 2011
I’ve been wanting a chalkboard wall for a long time now, but after seeing our friends’ one last weekend, I wanted it even more. So we settled on a wall and Rob got the paint and roller. It needs to dry for three days, then we cover the whole wall with chalk and clean it
weekend gone already?
How did it go by so quickly? My long list of things I was going to get done? Barely a dent in it. I managed to keep up with everything and even tackle the room of the week, but not much else, unfortunately. My body told me I needed a weekend of downtime. And I
wii bowling – 5 feb 2011
A weekend day at home. Breakfast up at the clubhouse. Camille was so happy to find out her friend (from the *other* side of the lake) could come over. Rob and the three girls plated games while I worked on “Room of the Month”. And, happily enough, we have another weekend day tomorrow!! No trips
When teleportation is finally possibleโฆ
When teleportation is finally possible, where will you beam yourself first? Since getting there is very often half the fun, this is a hard question to answer…. But since I like to head to the beach at the drop of a hat, I suppose it would have to be the beach. Maybe a beach I’ve
Photo Friday: CSA Farm Stay in MD
Two weeks ago, after the concert at XM in DC, we headed out to Maryland to spend the weekend with our friends on their farm House in the Woods. The weather was fairly cold, so we spent most of the day inside, Camille learning to needlefelt and Chloe playing with her friends. However, in the
pizza night – 4 feb 2011
A couple of months ago, I decided that Fridays would be homemade pizza nights whenever we are home. Camille generally prepares the pizza dough. This week, she used a recipe recommended by a friend Best Pizza Dough Ever Recipe. She didn’t quite manage to follow the directions, but the pizza was very good … I’m
If you could have any jobโฆ
If you could have any jobโฆ Most days, I’m fairly happy with job. I like my co-workers, I get paid a very decent salary, I enjoy the flexibility and freedom that comes with “working from home”. I like to think that I’m reasonably good at what I do. But is it my dream job? Probably
en garde – 3 feb 2011
Panic as we left the house — Chloe’s keens were in the washing machine since they were still soaked (and stinky) from our walk in the pouring rain along Canal Street in New Orleans the other day. She had “given away” her sneakers. The only closed-toe shoes left in her possession? Her rain boots. While
Home, for a while
After our January of trip after trip after trip, it feels a little strange to not be away or anxiously prepping for the next trip. I haven’t counted yet, but we really haven’t been home much this month (I think November 2010 is still in the lead with five days home, however.). I do feel
audubon zoo – 2 feb 2011
In the frigid freezing weather, the girls and I visited the Audubon Zoo before driving home to Pine Lake. We were practically the only ones there, and they all ask’d for you….
