Roadtrip: Popping the Top!
Yes, we did it. We bought me my mid-life crisis car. Not a sporty little two seater. No, none of that for me. I’ve wanted this car ever since I was a little girl. I’d like to claim that my first words were “PopTop”, but I don’t think my desire started quite that young. I

email – 15 feb 2011
The day got away from me because of our last minute trip to Chloe’s dentist (cavity-free is she!). But I did manage to take a couple photos with my phone — Chloe had to send a quick email thanking her friends for sending her sock back to her from their house.
Go Watson!
We’ve been tuned to the tv two nights in a row now for the big Jeopardy showdown between IBM’s Watson and the top two Jeopardy winners… It has been fun to watch, including the behind-the-scenes information! The show was taped at Thomas J Watson Research Center in Yourktown Heights, NY, which is where my parents
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Highlights for 15 Feb 2011
Having been home for almost two whole weeks now, I’m finally feeling caught up at home, at work and on the web! I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some of my favorites from the week: WanderMom: Child Lost in
whoo! – 14 feb 2011
Another beautiful day here in Pine Lake! We spotted this cute owl on our wanderings through the hamlet today.
It’s the Blueberries, I’m Sure!
Uh oh. Having been home for two weeks straight, eating better (it’s the blueberries, gotta be the blueberries), and, perhaps, the arrival of a taste of spring have brought me loads of energy. I’m getting all my usual things done with lots of energy to spare. With this energy and time, I’ve been tackling all
Roadtrip: The Beaten Path
I’m fond of saying things like “Getting there is half the fun!” or “The journey is as much a part of the adventure as the destination.” But, I admit, there are certain trips we’ve taken so many times that we now have a “system” for them. We stay in the same highway hotels and, even,
zoom – 13 feb 2011
Th weather was gorgeous today, and the girls and I went out for a long walk around Pine Lake. It was nice to talk with neighbors, explore the wetlands and hang out at the playground until it got dark.
Scenes from Beach Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale
On our trip to Fort Lauderdale last month, we stayed at a nice hotel right on the boulevard which runs along the beach, aptly named Beach Boulevard. During our stay, we walked up and down this boulevard a number of times each day and visited a few of the businesses. The first night, we went
WAH or OTTO?
As I sat in my usual Thursday spot this week, I took a moment to focus on everything that was going on around me. A group of teens were being their teenaged selves, flirting and play fighting. A teacher was waling by carrying something that looked like a Greek temple. Little kids were running around,
CD Shuffle – 12 feb 2011
This week, the girls and I have worked on sorting through our ginormous CD collection. We’ve cleaned out the car and all the other nooks and crannies in which our CDs hide. We’ve decided on which CDs to keep and which to not keep. We’ve made piles of CDs that need to be ripped into
Discovering: Water Taxi in Fort Lauderdale
Before we headed off to Fort Lauderdale, I did a little bit of research to come up with ideas of things to do with the kids while we were there. One place I wanted to take the kids was to the Museum of Discovery and Science, but Chloe wanted to stay at the pool and
I Chalk! (Finally.)
I can’t remember when I first wanted one. Probably even in our pervious house. But it never moved high on my wish list. Then we watched a few episodes of “Good Luck Charlie” on Disney — the family in that show has a refrigerator door covered with pretty notes and decorations. Then, we recently stayed
gazoo – 11 feb 2011
Last night and this morning were hard for Gazoo as she had to spent so much energy setting up her Facebook site. You can friend her at Gazoo Butera on Facebook.
Exploring New Orleans
Hard to believe we got back a week ago from New Orleans (and haven’t yet headed off somewhere else). Overall we had a lovely three days in the Big Easy. Dinner at a nice restaurant, beignets at Cafe du Monde, riding streetcars (and a ferry!), visiting the Audubons and wandering though the French Quarter. Oh,
Photo Friday: Better than a Pot Of Gold
Two weeks ago, the girls and I spent much of Saturday in the car. We saw highways and bridges. We listened to books and music. We made PB&Js while burning up the miles. And, what we found at the end of the ribbon of highway was not a pot of gold. No, it was even
snow – 10 feb 2011
How surprised I was when I woke in the middle of the night and saw the ground covered in white! The roads were cleared, but the trees and yards were beautiful!
M -I-double S-I-double S-I-double P-I
When I realized that Rob and my mom were about to have overlapping meetings in New Orleans, I figured it was finally time for us to get back to the Big Easy… We haven’t been since Chloe was a baby, pre-Katrina. Since the drive from Atlanta to New Orleans would take us within a few
