slowing down
The frenetic pace of our moving activities is finally slowing down. We have a few more piles in the garage to deal with, but they will be gone on Saturday. A few trips to Goodwill and a single trip to the dump — we’ve cancelled the 1-800-GOT-JUNK appointment as the piles appear to be quite
decatur square – 9 nov 2011
Camille and I went out for a walk and had lunch at a place on the square today. Very nice way to spend some time together!
homework – 8 nov 2011
Chloe has spelling homework each week. Though she gets the assignment a week ahead of time, she chooses to wait until the last minute to get it done.
school, four weeks later
When we started to seriously consider Chloe’s request to start going to school, I told her that if it didn’t turn out to be what she had hoped and imagined, that she would have to stick it out for six weeks. That would give her time to really see what it was like before deciding
candy – 7 nov 2011
Chloe appear to still be enjoying making her way through her Halloween haul. She’s got it tucked away in a dresser drawer, probably in fear that I might raid her stash.
cleaning – 6 nov 2011
Chloe procrastinated doing her homework by cleaning the entire condo.
wine fest – 5 nov 2011
After spending the morning working on getting the garage at the Pine Lake house emptied out and before heading to Blue Ridge for the night, I volunteered at the Decatur Wine Festival. While I did not want to pour wine, I ended up having to pour. I am sure I dribbled on too many fingers!
photo friday: lake eden arts festival (LEAF)
A couple weeks ago we haphazardly packed the car with camping equipment — as we are in the middle of a move, our stuff was spread out amongst our two homes. We somehow managed to bring what we needed to stay (sort of) warm at night as the temperatures dipped below freezing. This was our
girls’ room – 4 nov 2011
Camille enjoys spending time in her room, especially during the day when Chloe’s not around….
hanging up – 3 nov 2011
Today I actually started to hang things up on the walls. This was one of the first things to go up.
Mission Downsize: Day 1082
Okay, not really, but it certainly is starting to feel that way. Yesterday, I really felt the toll that moving has taken on me. After Camille and I unloaded the car, I took a TWO hour nap…and still had to go to bed by 9:30pm. I’m just exhausted. Moving is hard work. But a downsize
homework – 1 nov 2011
Chloe does have some math or spelling homework to do every so often, but it isn’t very much, thankfully. With all the tasks of moving and her gymnastics practice, she doesn’t have much time for it at the moment.
condo cat – 31 oct 2011
Gazoo is adjusting to the condo, but she does seem to miss being able to go outside, poor girl.
halloween parade – 30 oct 2011
We had a nice morning, enjoying breakfast across the street at Thumbs Up. But then i started to get a terrible sinus headache. I did manage to get the girls across the street for the Decatur Halloween Parade, at least.
halloween party – 29 oct 2011
After today’s massive garage sale, the girls and I headed down to the beach house for the Halloween Party. Chloe enjoyed being part of the play and the cookie decorating.
swirlin’ twirlin – 28 oct 2011
As we worked on building IKEA furniture, I saw on twitter that Swirlin’ Twirlin – two blocks away – was having a grand opening with free frozen yogurt. Chloe and I ran out in the rain to check it out. I had a little “Pumpkin Pie”; yum!
photo friday: corn maze
Despite the chaos that comes with moving, downsizing, a big release at work and a child starting school for the first time ever, we managed to make it up to north Georgia for our annual corn maze outing with my mom. This time, both my dad and Rob came along with us as well. And,
food truck dinner – 27 oct 2011
After gymnastics, we stopped at the “Food Truck Event” at East Decatur Station to pick up dinner before heading to the screening of “The Phantom Tollbooth” at the high school.
Mission Downsize: Day 36
Aren’t we done yet?? No, but look how far we’ve come so fast! Our house is empty on the two top floors; we only have the storage room and garage left to empty. We now have a storage unit rented for things like holiday decorations, kayaks, the rooftop carrier and the tent. Soon we hope
king of pops – 26 oct 2011
Though there wasn’t much that we needed, we headed over to the Decatur Farmers’ Market this afternoon. We ended up buying some green beans, honey and popsicles from King of Pops. Chloe’s first ever. And she LOVED it.
