back at the cabin – 25 nov 2011
And then today, I headed back up to the cabin to finish off the Thanksgiving week. Too much running around this week. I look forward to staying put next week.
leaf – 24 nov 2011
My favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving is to get out for a family walk; we went on two walks today. I found this colorful leaf on the first one.
game night – 23 nov 2011
After coming back from the cabin, shopping, unpacking and cleaning, Chloe was excited to have the chance to sit down and play a game with Rob.
rainbow – 22 nov 2011
Not only did this rainbow have the most vivd purple that I’ve ever seen, we also spotted a double rainbow! Stunning!
pumpkin demise – 21 nov 2011
The strangest demise of a pumpkin that I’ve ever seen. Someone (squirrels? deer?) ate all the skin and left the stringy bits behind.
camp half-blood – 20 nov 2011
Camille’s hat skills are ever-improving. She just knit this “Camp Half-Blood” hat this week.
jeff kinney – 19 nov 2011
This morning we headed over to the square early to see Jeff Kinney, author of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” books. Chloe was thrilled to meet him; I enjoyed seeing all the SNOW that he brought with him.
mind benders – 18 nov 2011
Chloe walked in from a day at school and settled onto my bed to work on some Mind Benders. She used to enjoy these when doing homeschooling and was excited to get some as part of her schoolwork.
on the same page – 17 nov 2011
Tonight, the girls and I walked over to Little Shop of Stories for an “On the Same Page” event. It was lovely to have such a fun party just steps from home ! We are settling in nicely to our new life on the square.
Bus Stop Mornings
One thing I never anticipated liking about Chloe’s foray into public school is walking her to the bus stop each morning. In fact, the bus was my first major complaint but that’s history now. Not only have we figured it all out, but the school system has worked out some kinks and improved communication as
farmer’s market – 16 nov 2011
Storms passed, Rob and Chloe both got home in time. We all walked over to the Decatur Farmers’ Market and bought some Mercier apples, some baked goods and a sweet little head of lettuce. Now that things have slowed down, I hope to work on cooking more and love that fresh, local ingredients are just
Learning to Breathe Again.
After two months of intense, packed lists of things that needed to get done, we are settled. And all of a sudden, I am ungrounded. No longer facing huge piles of things that MUST GET DONE, I am feeling untethered, not sure what I’m supposed to be doing, flitting from one thing to another, but
autumn – 15 nov 2011
The view from our condo isn’t the greatest in the world, but it is a little quieter on the courtyard than it is on the street. I do like to watch people coming and going during the day and will be very happy when the hotel next door is done its renovations.
gazoo -14 nov 2011
Gazoo doesn’t often sleep on my bed. Usually she’s asleep on the back of the couch or a chair in the living room or curled up in Chloe’s top bunk (how DOES she get there?). But sometimes we’ll come across her on the balcony, in a window or in my bed.
Mission Downsize: DONE!
Wowza! It feels like absolutely forever, but, in reality, it was just less than two months ago that we made our first offer and a little over a month ago that we made the jump over. In that time, we found homes for most of the furniture, books, toys, tools and all the rest that
chloe – 13 nov 2011
Once we were done “settling in” today, Chloe got out her art supplies (we still have some!!) and drew pictures to include in packages….look out Catherine/Christian and Noah/Jonah. Some Chloe love is headed your way!
camille – 12 nov 2011
Camille took time off from her homework to look at knitting patterns and catch up with what’s new on Ravelry.
gazoo – 11 nov 2011
While Gazoo knows this is now her home, she’s not too pleased with it. She misses going outside and hates the indignity of having to use a litter box. But, she loves licking clean Chloe’s cereal bowl every morning. She sits on the counter while Chloe gets ready for school, patiently waiting for her treat.
I must be a Time Lord …
since I seem to have two hearts. (And two neighborhood email lists to moderate now …) We are *really* enjoying life here in Decatur. Chloe likes going to school, riding the bus, hanging with her friends. Camille likes being able to walk to Little Shop, the library, the park. I like how easy it is
with ally condie – 10 nov 2011
Camille and I went to the Little Shop of Stories last night to hear an author talk by Ally Condie, author of Matched and Crossed . It was lovely to hear her speak and to get to meet her and have her sign our brand new copy of Crossed. I hope that Camille and I
