instagram: friday night
The five (us plus a friend) of us headed down the block to meet the family of Chloe’s friend at Swirlin’ Twirlin’ for dessert. We stayed for a couple hours! It was so nice to get out and get to know some people in Decatur better.
instagram: downpour
The day was a nice day other than the twenty minutes that I *had* to go out to take Chloe to gymnastics. During that time, it poured so much that the streets flooded.

Chloe and I were both cranky, so I dragged her out to the pool for a swim before books and bed. And it helped us to both reset our moods. Whew.
lessons in reality tv
For years, we lived without tv. We watched Disney and HGTV while traveling and that was plenty for us. When we moved to Decatur last fall, I decided that I was ready to get cable once again. Our tv watching comes and goes. Some weeks I watch too much. Other times, I can go weeks
instagram: spacer
Chloe headed back to the dentist today and had her spacer installed. Poor thing. It is really not very nice looking, AND she can’t eat sticky food for a couple years ….

The construction continues here at home. I sure hope that they’ll finish up soon.
instagram: pool
Thought Chloe is back in school, it is still very much summer, and we were glad to have a nice evening to spend at the pool.
Georgia: Etowah Indian Mounds
This past Friday while Chloe was tucked safely in a chair at school, because how else could she learn, Camille and I took a field trip up to Etowah indian Mounds Historic Site as part of her studies on native cultures in Georgia. It took a little longer to get there than I had realized,

My AirBook is all spruced up now with fanciness.

As part of Camille’s GA History studies, we visited the Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site today.
photo friday: LEAF
After spending April camping in Evie along the Gulf Coast, going to my sister’s wedding in the Bahamas, and attending Kindiefest in NYC, it would have been nice to spend May at home. But, our tradition is to go to LEAF, and go to LEAF (music, arts and camping just outside Asheville, NC) we did.
instagram: gazoo
With all the extremely loud noise on the outside of our walls, Gazoo has spent most of her days underneath my bed. I kind of wish I could join her there to escape it. But it will be done soon, I sure hope.
instagram: bus stop
We had to leave home at 6:25am to get Chloe to the bus stop on time. But this year there’s a whole crowd of kids at Chloe’s stop !!
first day of school
The summer went by far, far too fast. I can’t believe that it is time to turn Chloe back over to the system. Last year was pretty awful, and I just hope that all will go well for Chloe this year. At last night’s “meet and greet” she was so excited to be back at

This “Raw Milk for Pets” sign looks completely out of place in from of the ATM by Commerce. But, then again, the ATM looks completely out of place when it is in the middle of the Wednesday afternoon farmers’ market.
bathroom remodeling (finally)
When we moved to our condo almost ten months ago, the only room we (Rob) painted was the girls’ room. Since they were moving from each having a very nice room into a shared room, we wanted to make theirs cozy for them. They chose new bed covers that matched and then picked out a

Rob put up the shelves. We haven’t yet made prints to put in the frames we bought so we tore the covers off of some of the New Yprkers and created art for the picture rails. Camille liked one so much that it might just stay!

The painting is done. Now onto a towel rack and framed photos and accent tchotchkes (I love that word :)….
instagram: painting
Rob and Chloe did most of the taping earlier today, then Camille and I got started with the painting in the bathroom — color is coming at last!

This evening, we headed out to Home Depot to get the supplies and paint for painting the girls’ bathroom. I can’t wait to get started!
