Georgia: Kolomoki Indian Mounds
Last weekend, the girls and I loaded up Evie for a weekend of camping at Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park as part of Camille’s native cultures in Georgia. From Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park: This historically significant park is the oldest and largest Woodland Indian site in the southeastern United States, occupied by American Indians from 350

The girls and I headed up to Etowah Indian Mounds today for some hands-on activities, including an archaeological “dig” and pottery-making.
Georgia State Parks
Ever since we got Evie and our Friends of the Georgia State Parks Pass last year, we’ve been visiting park after park here in Georgia. instagram: school picnic
Tonight was the school picnic at Chloe’s school. I’m glad I went only because Chloe had a good time with her friends. As usual, I felt very uncomfortable at the school event. I just can’t seem to enjoy large gatherings like that…especially ones that are centered around school.
photo friday: metropolis
On our way home from our trip to Saint Louis, we decided to make a short detour off the interstate to visit Metropolis. A quiet downtown square area, dwarfed by a huge statue of Superman greeted us. We took a little time to shop in the Superman gift shop and then snapped some photos before
instagram: crocheting
Camille has been doing a lot of crocheting toys these days as well as knitting pouches and other things.
instagram: camboodle
Camille has listed a number of new pouches on her Camboodle Etsy site. I just love these little pouches!

I’m now even more official. At long last, I’ve managed to collect my patches from Fire Station 2 and get them and the shirts over to the tailor’s to have them sewed on properly. BTW, CAPS stands for “Citizens Assisting Public Safety”. I am a trained volunteer for the Decatur Fire Department, but I am

I’ve been finding some great deals at fab.com, and the designs are helping me move along with my redecorating projects….

Yesterday, I missed my chance to take photos of the lilies as they close up before the morning is over. So today Chloe an I made sure to get some pics early!
instagram: kolomoki mound
In the early afternoon, Camille and I explored the eight mounds in at Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park. The temple mound is the largest one, and is quite overgrown with vegetation. But it was fun to climb to the top!

Camille and I picked Chloe up from school and hit the road! We got to Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park in southwest Georgia around 6:30. We quickly got ourselves set up and made dinner, then enjoyed a nice evening by the lake.
photo friday: city museum
Six and a half years ago, the girls and took a weekend trip to Saint Louis and, on the recommendation of a friend, we headed to City Museum. Ever since that trip years ago, the girls have been begging to return. So when we accompanied Rob on a St. Louis back in June, a return

On my way home from first aid class at the City Museum, I walked across the square. All around, the square was alive with people enjoying a lovely evening. And I was offered a sweet potato chip by a couple of strangers. Never a dull moment.

I saw so many flowers on our walk today, but I forgot to take photos of any of them. Oops.
instagram: chloe and gazoo
I don’t know why Gazoo loves Chloe so much, but she does. Gazoo is forlorn when Chloe leaves for school and thrilled when she gets back home each day.
instagram: sunset at the pool
Chloe and I had a nice post rainstorm swim this evening. The clouds were moving fast, but the rain had moved away.
instagram: peter pan
We headed down to the Fox Theatre today to see Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby. Chloe insisted that we stay after the show so she could get to meet the famous Olympic gymnast!

Camille had two friends over this weekend. Both named Claire. It got confusing. Thankfully, we named Camille “Camille” and not “Claire”.
photo friday: gateway arch
In June, the girls and I accompanied Rob on a trip to St. Louis. The girls had two “must visit” places for the trip: City Museum and the Gateway Arch. So first thing Sunday morning, we headed down to the river to visit the arch. While there, we chose to visit the Westward Expansion Museum,
