Camille worked hard on making dinner tonight. Unfortunately, she got bored part way through and try to draw while cooking — and set of the smoke detector three times.
Considering the “15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy”
A while back someone, somewhere posted a link to the blog post 15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy. I found the list intriguing and saved the link, but am just now getting back to looking at it more closely. And, as I ramp up to my re-start of my new “Happiness Project”,

The weather is starting to get cooler. And the flowers are in lovely shades of autumn. I’m looking forward to putting on socks and a sweatshirt sometime soon.
“Parking Wars” in Tybee Island
A couple months ago, i spent a recuperating-from-cleaning Sunday on the couch. Even with the 100 channels that we now get with our cable tv, I could find nothing to watch. I finally settled on a “Parking Wars” marathon. After watching what people have to go through to retrieve their towed cars, I vowed to

While Chloe and I were out this afternoon, Camille prepared dinner using a recipe from, well, Martha Stewart Living. I liked it, as long as I avoided the eggplant and the top layer, which was dried out. She then made desert from a recipe form the same magazine — orange creamsicle shakes … which I
back in the saddle again
Back in april, I gave myself a break from my various projects. That break lasted until now, despite a few attempts to get going again over the summer. I’m back in the saddle again … or at least climbing into it. I think I went through a bit of a “low” over the summer. It

Another day, another beach. The girls and I spent a few hours at the beach before heading home. While there, I spotted this strange cloud…
tybee island – sep 2012
The girls and I made it to Tybee Island, GA for the very first time! We camped in Evie on the island and explored the beaches and light station. summary posts: photo friday: tybee island light station photo friday: tybee island beach โParking Warsโ in Tybee Island photos: Picasa Album of Tybee Island Photos instagram:

A very lovely, laid-back day. A walk to the lighthouse, a 178-step climb to the top of the lighthouse, a dip in the pool, and afternoon of playing in the waves at the beach, an evening movie at the campground.

After a bit of a later arrival than hoped and setting up our campsite and then a dip in the pool to cool off, the girls and I set off on our bikes to explore. We didn’t get very far, but we did find the lighthouse, the ice cream place and the beach…

Back in August, Camille and I loaded up Evie (our VW pop top), swung by Chloe’s school to pick her up and headed south to Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park for a weekend of camping and history studies. We arrived around 7pm, so the office was closed, but we found our way to the campground and

My back hurt today, and Camille really helped me to make sure everything that needed to get done got done while I got my work done and little else.

Chloe had a nice day hanging out with friends. She went off to paint pottery with them, then they all came back here for dinner by the pool. So nice to have friends living in the same building!
compromise: theme park equilibrium
I’m a cheapskate. I hate to spend money. I look for deals. I hold my wallet close. “Do I need this?” “Why do I want to buy this?” I’m not an extreme coupon kind of person — I don’t NEED that much toilet paper, detergent or other crap. I buy what will make us happy,

The Atlantic Ocean is not exactly on the way home to Decatur from Orlando, but I figured it was worth the detour. The side-trip added six hours to our trip, but we not only got to stop at the Spanish Fort in St. Augustine, but we drove along the beach for miles and miles and
orlando – sep 2012
The girls and I headed down to Orlando for a couple days of theme park fun. Our other reason for heading to Orlando for a couple days is that Chloe is now finally tall enough to go on the Hogwarts ride at Universal. Last time we came, she was too short — and very disappointed. And no, at last, she’s gotten to go on it — a handful of times, even!

It was a very, very rainy day at Legoland. The water park never opened — it was the reason we came! Oh well. Once the rides opened up, we had the park pretty much to ourselves. We didn’t find the VW poptop at Legoland but at the Lego store at Downtown Disney ….

Now that we have our own “hotel” style pool, getting to go swim at a hotel isn’t as much fun. But the girls and I did swim for a little in the evening just to get out of the hotel room for a bit ….

Spotting these at Target *almost* made shopping fun, but only just almost.
