photo friday: alcatraz island
The ONE thing the girls insisted on wanting to do while we were in San Francisco last month? Go to Alcatraz! They’ve both been before, but back when they were far to young to remember going. This trip, they’ll remember. Both enjoyed it for very different reasons. Camille loved the history. Chloe loved the natural

volunteering: cert training begins
In fact, it actually began last week while I was in New York City. Trying to fit in an eight week class, even with our greatly reduced travel schedule, is a big challenge. Especially for an anxiety ridden person like me. Will I fit in? Will I make a fool of myself? Am I going

So much, so much to see in Chinatown and Little Italy. I didn’t even come close to capturing a fraction of a percentage of it all!
gooney bird: scavenger hunt fun
Scavenger Hunt Craziness! We worked our way through Chinatown and Little Italy thanks to the help of Stray Boots. Then, after lunch in Little Italy and a stop to watch people playing handball, we braved the crowds at the Hester Street Fair before our LES Tenement Museum tour. After some crazy “Weekend Planned Service Changes”

photo friday: coastal san francisco
While in San Francisco, we stayed at my sister’s place for much of the time, and took advantage of her close proximity to the beach! Too cold for swimming, but never too cold to walk near the water and gaze out at the long horizon… I sure do wish I lied closer to the ocean!
gooney bird: kindiefest and transportation explorations
What a day! Bagels and Kindiefest in Brooklyn in the morning. Then off to trek all over NYC. A subway ride to an abandoned subway station. Pizza and Dylan’s Candy Bar. Then a tram ride over to Roosevelt Island. A soft pretzel and the Staten Island Ferry. And then BACK to Kindiefest!! What a day!
gooney bird: exploring central park and beyond
After the morning’s adventure of winging his way to NYC, Gooney Bird tackled NYC! After looking for long lost relatives in the subway stop for the Museum of Natural History, he grabbed a snack at the Shake Shack. Yum. A stroll by The Dakota and through Strawberry Fields and then through more of Central Park

Just like last year at this time, we are headed on our way to Brooklyn, this time for our SIXTH Kindiefest! And Gooney Bird came with us once again. He likes to mostly hang out in the pack, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the big city, but is always willing to jump
