summer planning!
Summer vacation is almost upon us, and we’re getting all geared up. With only 67 days of summer break, and Camille and Chloe both heading to school on August first, I hope that we can make the most out of our long summer days. I don’t want the summer to slip away with us only
daily photo: girls’ room
The girls’ room is coming along nicely — I don’t think we’ll finish up this month as planned, but it is good to see it moving forward!
daily photo: apple pie
Camille and I made this apple pie tonight for “National Apple Pie Day”. Top crust over cooked and inside not well-cooked. But it was a good first attempt nevertheless…
celebrations: week 20 (13-19 may 2013)
I had a hard time findgin any holidays other than food ones for this coming week. I think I need to find some other sources for daily holidays!! This past week, we celebrated “Clean Your Room Day” and “Mother’s Day” in the same way — cleaning the girls’ room. Coming up this week: 13 :
daily photo: phelix
Phelix was such a stinkerooni. Time for a bath!! He doesn’t mind too much, but he certainly doesn’t love getting all lathered up.
mother’s day
Despite my desire to celebrate each and every day, I’m terrible at celebrating events like my own birthday and Mother’s Day and even Christmas. When the celebration gets *personal* and I’m expected to give meaningful gifts or send personal messages or cards, I fall apart. Take the crafts and recipes for “National Blonde Brownie Day”
daily photo: sunset
Yet another lovely sunset to watch from our living room …
daily photo: criminal release party
Tonight we headed up to Little Shop for Terra’s book release party. Little donuts, ginger ale, books and friends!
photo friday: golden gate park
We could spend days exploring this amazing park! From Koret Children’s Quarter playground, to the museums, the deYong and the California Academy of Sciences and thenonto all the hidden gardens, I loved being there. Lunch at the Park Chalet was relaxing and delicious. A stroll by the windmills and the bison ended at Sprekles Lake
daily photo: notes
I opened my notebook tonight to look at my notes from last week. Oops. Maybe I’ll take better notes in class this week?
working for the weekend
Scrambling, scrambling this week to clear out my to do list. Table returned to IKEA. White t-shirt bought for Chloe. Work caught up on. Most of the “Goodwill item pile” sent on to new homes. Web page backlog almost cleared. Plans to change address with school system tomorrow. My motivation? Having a weekend in wich
daily photo: dining room
The dining room is looking better and better. A light, some plants, some decorations and even a nice bouquet of flowers….
happiness project: energy (may)
So, how’s it going, this happiness project topic for May? Unfortunately, not so well. I have “sort of” done the Whole Living cleanse. But when I don’t feel good, I lose any and all motivation and willpower that I have. And I’ve only felt good/strong for about a total of ten minutes this week. It
daily photo: tulips
I had to go to Walmart today, so I treated myself to flowers while I was there.
daily photo: reading
I’m hoping that once I can find a bit more energy and balance, I’ll be able to get back to reading more once again….
celebrations: week 19 (6-12 may 2013)
I have finally resigned myself to the fact that we are not going to have the “ideal” daily holiday celebrations that I was so hoping to have this year. But if I can get a few ideas together anyway, then next year it will be easier to have even better celebrations, right? Last week, we
daily photo: foggy morning
What a foggy morning. Up at six to get a start on my crazy list of things to do, but it was worth it to see the foggy sky.
always behind. never ahead.
For years now, I’ve always felt behind on my to do list. Occasionally I manage to wrestle it down to size for a few days or weeks, but it always seems to get the better of me again, even when I give up various projects. The constant struggle is exhausting, overwhelming much of the time.
daily photo: raindrops
A very rainy day. Lovely for staying in, relaxing and tackling the crazy list of things that need to get done.
ikea, oh, ikea
IKEA. I fell in love back when I was a graduate student. Living on my own as a grad student in Houston, I was thrilled when IKEA opened. I could have fairly nice furniture at low cost. I could “decorate” with things I liked. Quickly, I knew all the shortcuts. Visiting IKEA was always a
