daily photo: lunch money
Tonight we walked over to the library to hear one of our longtime favorite kindie bands — Lunch Money!
Georgia: Traveler’s Rest
As we continue with our field trips related to our Georgia history studies, I decided to find a field trip that was close to a state park where we could camp. So last weekend, we headed to the Travelers Rest Historic Site. Only open on Saturdays form 9-5, we couldn’t make it on a weekday.
daily photo: phelix
I picked Phelix up from the boarders this morning. When he got home, he ran to my bed and fell sound asleep. I think he had too much fun this weekend with all his friends!
Happiness Project: Being Authentic – Item 3
I’m still struggling with the second item of 22 Things Happy People Do Differently. I will continue to try to treat *everyone* with kindness. This week, the challenge is to: 3. See problems as challenges. I say this to Chloe all the time. Unfortunately, I have not been great at following this advice for myself
daily photo: rainy day
We knew the day was going to be a bit rainy, and we were looking forward to it. But when it turned torrential with a potential for hail, we decided to pack up and head home….
summer passport 2013: week 2
This week, we completed *seven* more of our summer passport activities. I fear that with as little time we are spending in town, we are going to find it hard to get to the local items on our list, but we’ll try! This week we completed: 1. Create summer passport stamp: 30 may 2013 2.
daily photo: campfire
I made my first campfire! It may not have been perfect, but we got the logs to burn and managed to make smores, too!
daily photo: camping
Though we hit the road hours after I had hoped, we managed to get a prime campsite anyway!
photo friday: flora and fauna of san francisco
On our trip to San Francisco, we encountered flowers and animals everywhere we went. From the seagull that took a bite of Chloe’s ice cream cone down by the piers to the bison that live in Golden Gate Park to the ducklings on Alcatraz, it was one adventure after another!
daily photo: stuck phelix
Phelix crawled under the tv to get his new ball and got stuck. Poor duppy!!
celebrations: week 23 (3-9 jun 2013)
Summer’s here, and it’s time to celebrate!! This past week, we celebrated Memorial Day with the “traditional” cookout lunch. For Amnesty International Day, I had the girls each research a fact or two about Amnesty International. Coming up this week: 3: Repeat Day 4: Hug Your Cat Day 5: World Environment Day 6: National Yo-Yo
daily photo: nature walk
Teenagers out on a nature walk. Of course, they were actually facing the lake view while I was taking a picture of them taking pictures ….
blue ridge: a lake once more
For the past few years, Lake Blue Ridge hasn’t been much of a lake. It has been, in varying degrees, a big ol’ mudhole. For example, as I worked on our 2010 photo album (I’m slowly working my way backwards through time on my photo album project and have almost completed my sixth album now),
daily photo: lunch in dahlonega
We’ve talked about it before, but now the girls are begging for mason jars instead of drinking glasses. I bet we can make that happen!!
Georgia: Gold City
As part of our Georgia history studies, we headed to “Gold City”, Dahlonega. While there we visited the diving bell, ate lunch at a great restaurant, explored the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site and panned for gold and toured a gold mine at the Consolidated Gold Mines. Not only was it a fun day trip,
daily photo: lunch at the cabin
When we got to the cabin, Barbara made us a Memorial Day cookout lunch of hotdogs… Yum!
Happiness Project: Being Authentic – Item 2
For the past week, I worked on the first item of 22 Things Happy People Do Differently. I think I did fairly well at not holding grudges. This week, the challenge is to: 2. Treat everyone with kindness. While I trat most people with kindness, I’m not always so good at doing this with my
summer passport 2013: week 1
As school got out on Friday, we’ve only had two days to work on our summer passport activities. At the moment, we are still adding ideas to our list, trying to get it to reach 67 items. However, we’ve already started to work through the list! This two-day week we: 37. Attend TimeGateCon: 24-26 may
