My Happiness Project continues.
I realize that I’ve been fairly quiet here in regards to my Happiness Project. I just haven’t had much to say, and I don’t want to bore you all…
I’ve been making progress on this month’s topic (Diet), but not as much as I’d like. Since I feel myself slipping a bit, this public admission of slippage will hopefully inspire me to get back on track. I’ve been doing fairly well with drinking enough water, though it is still something I have to make a conscious effort to do.
As a reminder to myself, here are the things I’m concentrating on this month:
- Drinks: No drinks with calories. No “artificially sweetened” drinks. Reduce caffeine, increase water. Clear out and replace water bottles as necessary.
- Nutrition: Increase fruit and veggies. No sugar/bread/rice/potatoes/pasta. Eat more yogurt.
- Weight loss: Start keeping track of calories.
- Knowledge: Read a couple of books about healthy eating.
- Planning: Work on menu planning. Be sure to pack snacks/water for all outings.
Other than a terrible “throw everything out the window” weekend at LEAF, I’m doing fairly well on all these points, except for the calorie counting. I haven’t started that yet, but I will begin today. Also, my daily fruit/veggie intake is still too low.
As for books, I just bought the Kindle version of Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It. I read Eat to Live: The Amazing Nutrient-Rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, Revised Edition, but hated it, so I hope this book will be more enlightening for me.

Small, achievable steps that can become habits. Keep it up! (Now if I could take my own advice I’d be all set.)
