Life in the City + National Archives
On Wednesday, the friend we had planning to meet for breakfast canceled on us, so I posted the need for a museum on my Facebook. Our canceling friend’s coworker emailed me with an idea for an outing, so we decided to try it! After taking care of domestic and work tasks, we headed out across the street to get bagels for breakfast. After we left, I realized a bit later that I had left my gloves there. Oops. And it was a chilly day.
We took metro to Federal Triangle and walked over to the Archives. Camille enjoyed the exhibit about the Treaty of Paris. In the learning center, the girls made copies of the Declaration of Independence with their own signatures, and Chloe really was interested in what the docent showed us as well. We then went to the big interactive exhibit and to the Rotunda where we saw the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
We took the train back to Foggy Bottom and walked to Trader Joe’s, Kinkos (for the Christmas letters) and the bagel shop (to get my gloves). At home, the girls did some homeschooling. I tried to make a casserole, but we had no potato peeler nor stockpot for cooking. Frustrating! At night, we walked through Georgetown to see the lights and to visit the bookstore.

I am loving all your adventures in DC. I wish we had a month to explore there.
Did you ever figure out what was going on at the Ritz yesterday?
thanks Kat! No, I didn’t find out, but, really, it seems like a couple times a week there is something going on there. Very often when we walk by, there are Homeland Security vehicles parked on the sidewalk.
I did read that the Pennsylvania Inaugural Ball will be held there. That might be interesting…
