Camping: Myrtle Beach State Park
As I mentioned in my post Photo Friday: Myrtle Beach, we spent three days camping at Myrtle Beach State Park last month.
Before we headed out to pick up “Evie”, we booked a amping site via the park’s website, hoping that we’d have a nice one. Upon arrival, we registered and were given the wifi password as well as the code to get in the gate after hours.
The campground was a fairly quiet one, mostly occupied by older folks in large RVs. There were very few tents around. The bath facilites were clean and modern, though we found that the showers in the smaller bath house didn’t have very much in the way of hot water for showers. Brrr. I managed to get on the wi-fi from our site, which was very nice for me!
Every site has firepits, power, water and a picnic table. Firewood cannot be brought in from outside for fear of spreading disease.
The beach is a very short walk away and is just beautiful. In February, it was quite deserted; we had the whole thing to ourselves for the most part. The girls played in the waves, collected shells and built sandcastles. I sat in my beach chair, read a book and breathed deeply.
The park has lots to offer – fishing pier, playground, and so forth, but we were there for the beach.
Nearby, there is plenty of places to shop; no worries if you forgot something or need to buy food!
Great location for camping! (Except, alas, for the commercial air traffic overhead….)

Oh, that looks heavenly! I love reading about “Evie,” as my brother-in-law has owned a couple in his day and dreams of getting another at some point down the road.
Thanka Nicole! We had a great weekend camping at the beach. I can’t wait to do it again….
