Phelix the Dog!!

Chloe is so excited! After years of hoping, her wish has finally come true. We now .HAVE.A.DOG !

She’s never had a dog. Gazoo’s never had a dog. Camille’s never had a dog. I’ve never had a dog. Rob’s never had a dog. We are completely clueless. But we have a dog.

I thought we’d have to go to a breeder. I thought we’d have to wait months. I wanted a teacup, but then I found out how horrid the lifespan of those dogs were. I wanted a Yorkie, but then learned they might not be great with kids.

We stumbled upon Diamond, a Papillon pup being fostered between Decatur and Pine Lake. A 5-month old puppy who is housetrained. After looking up more about the Papillon breed, I thought that even if he is a little bigger than what I wanted, he was *perfect*.

Wednesday we filled out the application. Friday we got a call. Friday evening, us four girls (my third daughter Claire came along) went to visit. Saturday, he was “cat” tested. And today he came for a home visit. And his visit turned into an adoption.

First step — Petco for a collar, leash, food, bowls, treats, carate, bed, toys and poop bags. Whoa. The adoption cost less than the supplies!

Back at home, Rob and Chloe took Phelix (after a bit of debate, we finally settled on a name) for a walk to the pocket dog park at our building and then around the square.
