The gift that keeps on giving. A couple of years ago, a friend brought me this Christmas cactus as a hostess gift. I thought that, like every poinsettia that I’ve ever bought, it would last the .season and then be done.

So how surprised I was that it not only lived a whole year, but bloomed again … at Christmas. And this year again. I don’t think about it much during the year, but when it starts to bloom, it reminds me of that lovely evening.
