heart’s home.
Over the years, I’ve found that my heart has a few homes. Not just one, and not necessarily the one I live in.
I have some favorite places – XM in DC is always a place that make my heart feel alive and happy (my “happy place”). I could add a few others to that list.
What makes a hometown a hometown?
My heart leaps whenever I drive into Pine Lake. From the first time I visited until now, I come alive the second I enter my hometown. I didn’t grow up there, I only lived there for a few years, but to me it is my home. My heart’s home.
Decatur, as special as it is, has never felt that way for me. Camille graduated from the public high school, Rob and I both volunteer with the civic organizations, and it usually gives the feeling of a nice small town. But I’ve never felt at home here.
Two other places make my heart sing. And now I can call them both home.
Arabia Mountain. Phelix and I both start to feel the love as we get close. It’s a magical place.
And now Eastham. As a kid I always though that I would end up living in Massachusetts. Georgia was never on my mind. But now that I have my own special little slice of the Cape, all I can think about is how I can get back there as soon as possible….
