going home again.
It never fails. Driving down Rockbridge, turning left onto Spring. I’m home. I felt it the very first time I found my way to Pine Lake. And I felt it on Saturday, FIVE years after moving away (even though I only lived there for four years). It is my heart’s home. I love my Pine Lake. And the community spirit lives on. The people have changed since we first came, but not so much that we no longer know anyone. And we continue to meet wonderful people each time we come by. This trip’s new friends? None other than the people who live in our house.
It was fate somehow. Chloe and I walked by on our way to the beach. Our hearts were full as we saw a kids’ birthday party happening on *our* porch. As we left town on a different street, a cute black dog raced up to us. At first, fear, then concern. The girl had a purple, sparkly bandana tied around her neck. Someone would worry. Neighbors jumped in — and we learned that she lived at our house!
Which then led to us meeting the family now living in our house. I kept saying OUR HOUSE, since we were the first owners. First owners claim rights, right? Lovely, amazing people. Chloe and I left Pine Lake happy to know such a lovely family now lives in our beloved home in my hometown.
