to thine ownself be true.
Rings. I like the idea of rings. My wedding ring has been a tight squeeze to get over my knuckle since I was pregnant, so I’ve been going without rings for years now. But last year while we were in Galway, I let the girls pick out Claddagh rings. And I found a thumb ring for myself. It reminds me of our family trip and of the good times we had together. As the girls are now both in high school, I know that this chapter in our lives is coming to a swift close, and this ring will be a memento of the times we had together.
When Camille and I visited New York in June, I hoped to find another ring with which to remember our time there. At the Brooklyn Flea Market up the street from our apartment, I poured over trays spotting many rings that I liked, but once I found the “to thine ownself be true” ring, I knew I had found it. The ring doesn’t fit well on any of my fingers, but that’s not a problem. I had to have it. And I now have a reminder of my special times with Camille.
