mouths to feed.
When we first moved to Decatur, I had dreams of creating the ideal teen hangout. The kids would LOVE to hangout at my house. Snacks, xbox, Netflix. Our home is in the ideal location. Close to the high school and even closer to “The Square”. Despite my eagerness, my dream happened. Every Friday without fail, I get a houseful of teens.
Sometimes I make wholesome snacks. But more often, I provide them with healthy leftovers from my fridge (eat these leftover carrots!), frozen pizza, and pasta. Or the *bad* food I need gone. Oreos bought on a whim, treats donated from a party here in our building.
I love these teens. And I only have a year left to hang with them. To listen to their dreams. To hear their struggles. I doubt they will remember me, my food, and my couch… But I will look back on these years with joy.
