college search: local schools
Back in February, Camille and I took a trip up to North and South Carolina to tour four colleges. When we returned to Decatur, we took one more official tour over the break. Though Agnes Scott College is a little too close to home (5 blocks away and across the street from Camille’s high school), there’s much about the school that fits what Camille is looking for in a college. It is a small, liberal arts college. While near an urban center, it has a traditions quad campus. The student body is diverse, and the classes are interesting.
Later in the week we went on a “tour” Emory University. Not exactly tour, but really a scavenger hunt. I had never explored the campus before, so it was a fun way to see it. In March, Rob and Camille went back for a “real” tour. In the end, Camille felt that the school was not a good fit.
Following the Emory tour, Camille and I drove over to Brookhaven to take a tour of Oglethorpe University. We had thought it might be a good fit for Camille, but by the end, neither Camille nor I thought so. The campus vibe just didn’t sit well with us. On a campus that small, I would expect people to nod and said hello far more often than happened. It was quite strange.
And so we’ll keep searching!
