On Sunday afternoon, after my Sunday morning walk in Paris, I made my way to the train station. The machine wouldn’t take my credit card (not surprising – our stupid US cards will move to chip and pin eventually…. been saying that for 15 years now). I finally made my way onto a train — or maybe a slow bot to China. No worries. I love a train ride, so slow is good. I like the excuse to sit in one place – watch the scenery go by – read the book I’ve been hoping to get a chance to read. Perfect excuse.
And these days, with texting, being able to let my manager/friend know when I would arrive – just amazing. No pressure anywhere. No one waiting around not knowing. It’s just amazing.
After a short visit at home, we all headed out for a walk to the local chateau, Chateau Fountainbleau … because, France! What a lovely walk. I could really live in a place like like this!
After a lovely walk and then a delicious dinner and a raucous rugby match, we walked back to the station, and I caught the train back to Paris. That’s a life I could get used to, for sure.
