Ireland Trip: Day 18
An early morning in hopes of taking a boat trip to Skellig Michael. We dressed, packed and loaded the car, then called the boat company. Sadly, the trip was cancelled due to the weather. So we headed back into the apartment and relaxed a bit, reading and playing games until it was time for breakfast. After another large breakfast at the hotel restaurant, we relaxed in the apartment a bit more, then hit the road for home.
Instead of retracing our steps, we decided to travel a different route and take the Shannon Ferry from Tarbert. As we pulled up, the ferry pulled in and we were headed across the Shannon ten minutes later. The wind was fierce on the ferry – guess I am glad we didn’t make the trip to the Skelligs in that surf. On the trip up to the Cliffs of Moher, we could see the ocean – on Friday the fog was too thick to see more than a few feet away.
We parked the car at the cliffs and walked up to O’Brien’s Tower. The wind was fierce and Camille and I decided to not climb to the top of the tower. We stopped in for lunch at the visitor’s center. I had quiche and Chloe had an “egg salad” sandwich. By the end of the ride back to Galway, we were all tired of being in the car. My back was hurting awful and Chloe was getting car sick. We unpacked and then Rob and the girls played a game. Camille bought some new games for her computer too.
