Ireland Trip: Day 11
Our Dublin apartment is in an amazingly central location. While central is good, it has also had its drawbacks. The crowds, especially on this celebratory weekend, are noisy. Our “in the eaves” apartment that has lots of light and nice views also gets stuffy. Windows open means noisy nights. Combined with the very short nights here — maybe 5 hours of semi-darkness? — I haven’t gotten much sleep in Dublin.
Rob and Barbara headed out in the morning to take a hopping bus to the Guinness Storehouse for a tour. They reported back that it was (a) a good idea to go early and (b) very well organized. The girls and I read and rested (I need more sleep!!) while they were out. When they returned, Rob and Chloe went up to Dr Quirkey’s Good Time Emporium for the 6D movie/adventure ride.
Gwyneth, Barbara and Camille walked along the river towards the National Museum of Ireland Decorative Arts Museum, taking a slight detour to find a geocache. We also stopped at the James Joyce Bridge in honor of Bloomsday. Camille enjoyed the museum and our spot of tea in the courtyard afterwards. We then went to find the stop for our red bus, but we walked the wrong way down the street. We managed to wave down a red bus before long, even if we weren’t at the official stop. We got off the bus near Trinity College to find a Joyce geocache, then went to the store before heading home to have some dinner. Chloe was there alone; Rob had left to catch a train back home to Galway.
