A day of work and school. The girls brought home friends – we had 11 kids and me here for a while. Some kids left, others came, and some more adults arrived for the game night.
photo friday: “modern” athens
While we mostly concentrated on seeing the “ancient” side of Athens in our short time there, we did manage to see some of the modern side. Unfortunately, that included protests and a car bomb near our hotel.

A day or work and school. Chloe found King of Pops tokens on the square. Camille babysat. Rob got home late from his conference.
what’s this morning feeling?
For the first time in what seems like years, I woke this morning without an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion. Even though I could have slept for another hour, I “jumped” out of bed and started my day. As I had such an early start, I had a few moments to contemplate this burst of energy.

Work and school. Chloe had her second swimming lesson. Camille did homework. I made a cornbread chili pie for dinner. Rob got home late.

Work and school in the morning. In the early afternoon, I picked up Chloe from school and took her to her new pediatrician; we both like her and the practice. From there, we went to the library, the pet store and the grocery store, then over to Agnes Scott for Chloe’s swimming lesson. At home,

Barbara made a big breakfast. We took care of things around the cabin and packed, then headed into town for a walk and some shopping. We drove Phelix home and went out to eat at Chloe’s favorite place, where she declared the corn chowder to get her “stamp of approval”. We headed back to the

After homemade coffeecake in the morning, we headed out to Mercier’s to do a little apple picking. Back at the cabin, we had lunch, then Phil and I went out for a walk with Phelix while Rob went for a bike ride. A quiet afternoon, then sloppy joes for dinner.
blue ridge: apple picking
The other day, I surprised by a post on Facebook from Mercier Orchards that they would have apple picking this weekend. I tend to equate apples with fall, and, despite the girls being back in school, this is not fall. Not at all. We took our chances with the weather and headed out. $10 to

A morning of work and school. Rob took the car to pick up the tickets I won, which turned out to be baseball tickets. I cleaned up around the house then the storms rolled in. Rob tried to get the girls from school, but it got complicated. Once we all were home, we relaxed and

Another day of school, work, and Red Cross. In the evening, Chloe and I rented “Divergent” and the girls made an Abnegation meal for dinner.
MODA: Design for Social Impact
While I feel negligent for not having made it to Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) earlier, I’m glad we made it when we did. I had in my mind that I needed to get the girls to the Design for Social Impact exhibit, but I also had it in my mind that it was closing

Another school day for the girls. I worked in the morning and volunteered at the Red Cross in the afternoon. In the evening, we had pita pizzas for dinner and made a peach cobbler with out peaches from the farmer’s market. Rob is still in Singapore.
misc thoughts on back-to-school
Last year, the girls when the girls headed “back-to-school” it was actually Camille’s first time ever going to school, so not really “back” for her. I have dreams of getting “so much done” now that school is back in session. Of course, I had dreams of getting “so much done” once school was out for

The girls were up early to head off to their first day of school! I worked during the morning, then took care of some projects. They hung out with friends after-school and then weren’t hungry for dinner, so we had a quiet night at home.
