walkable living
One of the reasons we chose to leave our beloved Pine Lake and move to downtown Decatur was for the walkability. While it is lovely to walk around Pine Lake on the many trails, it was almost impossible to walk anywhere other than the post office.
While I don’t walk as often as I should, we do walk often. The girls walk to school, the library and the froyo place. They can walk to many friends’ houses. Today, I walked to Greene’s Fine Foods to pick up chocolate covered peanuts (today’s holiday) and pistachios (tomorrow’s holiday), to the library to pick up my books and movies, to Souper Jenny for soup for dinner, to Sherlock’s for a bottle of wine and to Sawicki’s for baguettes from Alon’s.
Hopefully now that I’m slowly reducing my backlog and my number of “projects” I will start to have more time to enjoy our walkable neighborhood as I did today.
