photo friday: high falls yurts
For the long weekend in January, I was finally able to do something I had been wanting to do for a long time…stay in one of the Georgia State Park yurts! We had been warned that they don’t hold heat well, so we stocked up on blankets and sleeping bags. However, the yurts at High Falls State Park were well insulated, and the electric heaters put out plenty of heat! Not only that, but they were gorgeously furnished with rustic cabin furniture, enough to sleep six. So comfy and lovely. Downsides: No dogs. Winter covers on ours blocked the view of the lake. The table at our yurt was too far from the yurt and the cars, making cooking and eating more complicated than necessary. While not “glamping”, it was a huge step above sleeping in a tent in terms of amenities. We brought a coffeepot, popcorn popper, jigsaw puzzle, fairy lights and more to make the place extra comfy.
