around atlanta: skyview
Ever since it has opened, I’ve wanted to go and ride on SkyView, Atlanta’s new Ferris Wheel. The last time we were at Centennial Park, it was for a trip to the Coke Museum. The day was cold, wet and foggy, so we passed on riding the wheel. Thursday night, I managed to convince the
celebrations: christmas
I woke up early (as usual) and picked up around the apartment, then made coffee. I read for a while, then eventually, Chloe got up and worked on getting Camille and Rob up. We had a fun time opening our gifts, then had a nice, leisurely breakfast at home… While this was a nice Christmas,
celebrations: winter solstice
We’ve had various versions of Yule and Winter Solstice parties in the past. Big gatherings with lots of people and small family gatherings. While I wouldn’t mind having some large gatherings again, I did enjoy our party last week. Camille and I made chili, greens and cornbread. Camille, mostly on her own, made a lovely
atlanta: garden lights holiday nights
Last week, while Rob was in NYC, the girls and I headed out to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for the holiday lights. We’ve been a few times in past years, and I always enjoy seeing the garden all lit up and decorated for the holidays. Camille found a tree whose lights matched her hair color.

things i like: my new embosser
For years, I’ve wanted an embosser. I could imagine putting my seal on all my books, papers, letters and more. But first, a family seal was needed. As part of our Summer 2013 Passport of Fun, I included creating a family seal. Not only for my embosser, but also to order a stamp in order
photo friday: eating out on tybee island
While on our trip to Tybee Island back in Septmeber, we decided to try out a number of the restaurants. As I don’t eat seafood, I can’t say anything about how fresh the food was. But we loved the varying atmospheres in the various places !
city adventures: flat tire
One of my fears in all the years I’ve traveled with my kids is getting stuck in a situation where I have no control and fear for our safety. Unless absolutely necessary, I don’t ride in taxis. I plan ahead. I have backup plans. On many a long roadtrip on desolate stretches, I’ve feared for

As our tree stands in the corner undecorated other than lights, the girls got busy decorating sugar cones to look like Christmas trees. Cones, melted chocolate, coconut flakes and candy made for a fun time and some pretty trees!

happiness project: health + misc (dec)
Though I did not accomplish everything on my November project list, I made good forward strides, enough to make me feel as though I am moving forward once again, and that gives me renewed energy. And now, it is time to start up on the December tasks! December: December’s topic is “Health”. I have other
shopping locally.
With our many visits to NYC and Paris and our year in DC, I’ve always imagined a life of living locally. But somehow, I just can’t seem to manage it yet. Today, I read this story in the New Yorker about a local mozzarella place in Manhattan — and why it has gone out of
