photo friday: edisto beach state park
As we thought about where to go for Chloe’s “winter” break, I decided it had been too long since I’ve been to the beach. With money being tight as we were in the midst of three different real estate transactions, I knew we’d have to make it a camping trip and keep it short (so I could avoid taking time off from work). February break means the that the Atlantic is still in winter in the Carolinas, Georgia and northern Florida. So I started looking at the Florida panhandle and the Gulf Coast.
But Florida State Park beaches are not very dog-friendly. And as a new puppy mom, I was not ready to leave the puppy behind.
Searching and asking, we finally decided that the Atlantic would have to do. And I booked us three nights at Edisto Beach State Park. From their ReserveAmerica site, I picked what looked like the perfect spot. Next to the (short) path to the beach and close to the bathrooms.
Early on the Saturday of break, we loaded up Evie with Camille, Claire, Chloe, Phelix, food and stuff and headed out. Much of the trip was on very isolated (and bizarre) roads. Finally, we were there .. and stopped to chat with a ranger headed the other way — he knew immediately who we were and handed me our hangtag.
And our two nights (chased away by rain) at the beach began — it was exactly the place I’ve been looking for — camping within feet of the beach. A town within walking distance. And a place that Phelix is allowed on the beach with us.
This is an entry for Delicious Babyโs Photo Friday.
