Preparing for the President
Our little city, Decatur, GA, is busy getting ready for President Obama’s visit tomorrow!
daily photo: rainy evening
It was a drizzly, wet evening in Decatur tonight.
daily photo: camille
It started to rain during the night and continued to rain into the morning. Thankfully, we had a break in the rain to pack up and to visit the beach one last time before hitting the road to go home.
celebrations: week 6 (5-11 feb 2013)
The worst week so far this year in my resolutions and traditions and celebrations, oh my! . Between closing on a new condo and going camping, I didn’t have much time to plan and prepare extra celebrations. We managed to have Nutella Banana Bread, eat Hershey’s, eat peppermint aptties and have fortune cookies. Not a
daily photo: shells
A lovely day at the beach. Walking in the sand, building castles, collecting shells. Perfect, perfect.
phelix files: week 10
What a week fo Phelix! It started out a bit boring at first, but on Thursday, he GRADUATED! He still has a lot of work to do on many of his commands, but he’s come a long, long way. He is getting better and better about not having accidents and “dropping” things that he picks
daily photo: phelix
Phelix had his very first trip to the beach. He can’t believe that such an awesome place exists and he’s never gotten to go there before now. He’s a beach bum puppy for sure!
hometown saturday: rooftops
I love the varied heights of the roofs of the buildings around the Decatur Square. Want to share a photo from a hometown of your this week? Link up below! Please share a link back to this page in your post to spread the love!
daily photo: wall of clouds
As we wandered through our empty, brand new home, we watched the clouds blow out. No gradual thinning, just cloudy then not cloudy.
daily photo: phelix
Phelix has learned a bit of elevator etiquette, but he still has a bit more to learn …. Tonight, he graduated from his puppy class!!
daily photo: milles bornes
A lovely afternoon here in Decatur! After Chloe got home form the bus, she and I headed out to the pool deck for a few hands of Milles Bornes.
school: expressions on the ave
The fifth grade at Chloe’s school has been hard at work on a “unit of inquiry” these past few weeks. While I’m not yet convinced that the IB program at her school is helping the kids to learn better as opposed to “having something to show”, Chloe was excited to have worked on the project
daily photo: skyline
Using a panoramic stitching app on my phone, here’s tonight’s sky from the pool deck. If all our ducks get aligned, this will be my nightly show from our own unit.
live in concert: gustafer yellowgold
I do wish this could be the case more often. It is simply lovely to walk from our condo over to the square for a kids’ concert. Especially a concert for a musician whom we’ve known for so long and simply adore. As always, we had s wonderful time being a part of the audience
daily photo: catnip mouse
Phelix got to spend some time out of his pen today. He ran around like a crazy puppy, but behaved well overall. I went to take a shower and came back to see this casualty — poor catnip mouse!
celebrations: week 5 (29 jan – 4 feb 2013)
As I wrote in resolutions and traditions and celebrations, oh my! , we’re taking a little more time for celebrations. The girls love them, and having a guide helps me try out new recipes and do more off-line crafts. 29 (National Puzzle Day): The nice thing about doing a crossword puzzle is, you know there
daily photo: gymnastics
Chloe’s gymnastics team came in first at the meet today! And Chloe herself placed second in her age division in one event and first in the other three events, plus came in first overall!!
phelix files: week 9
This has been a week of ups and downs for Phelix. On Tuesday, Phelix apparently pooped in the lobby while Rob was looking the other way. After a reprimand from the condo manager, I was so embarrassed I could barely bring myself to showing my face downstairs again. But mistakes are made, right? So we
daily photo: crane
After an early morning start to see the groundhog make his prediction and a frustrating time signing Camille up for high school, we then walked over to Eddie’s Attic for a concert. On the way, we gawked at the crane in the middle of our street.
hometown saturday: up in the air
Our street was closed today because the building next door was getting a new air conditioner unit. I think I was more excited than my kids to see the huge crane (for our little city) in operation! Want to share a photo from a hometown of your this week? Link up below! Please share a
