it will get easier, right?
Phelix was an absolute disaster today. He wouldn’t let me “catch” him to put his leash on. Once he does have a leash on, he’s either jumping to grab it or pulling so hard on it that he chokes. He had FOUR accidents, most just after coming in from a walk. His “bites”, that we’ve been working to stop all together, got a bit too hard. I felt like I spent the whole day chasing him or cleaning up after him. I tried to put him in the corral a few times, which helped a little bit, but not enough.
Chloe and I were almost crying because we think he could be a good dog, but we just don’t know how to get him to do the things we need him to do, like stay so we can put his leash on him in order to leave the dog park. I hate to ask, but did we make a mistake? Will he calm down? Will we eventually figure out what he needs in order to listen to us?
I’ve got my fingers crossed that time and training (him and us) will turn him into the good dog that he can be.
