photo friday: roadtrip
A couple weeks ago at Fernbank Science Center, I was asked to sign a pledge to not text and drive “For the safety of the kids”… No, I will not sign it.
I find the current laws to be somewhat ridiculous. I understand the need to convince teens to focus on DRIVING. I’m all for that. But when I’m at a red light or stopped on the highway and want to check directions or traffic, why should that be illegal? I can think of less-attentive things I’ve done at a red light … reading mail, cleaning out the glove compartment, dealing with whiny children.
And, so, I admit. I take photos while I drive. I don’t hold the camera up to my eye. In fact, I rarely hold the camera up to my eye to take photos, even when I am not driving.
I pride myself in being a safe driver even if I do break the law on occasion.
This is an entry for Delicious Babyโs Photo Friday.

Nice snaps! I’m certainly with ya on the ridiculousness of the law. There are dozens of extremely distracting things you can do while driving that are legal. It’s another case of trying to use peer pressure to get everyone to conform to some insane “norm.” Of course, then we have places like the airport where invasive and unhelpful ideas somehow become law and people actually believe they are safer, because the government and peers tell them so. That’s a topic for another day…
I’m with you Carl — I even wrote a TSA rant a while back, and my Free-Range Kids posts are along the same lines …
