photo friday: phantom of the opera
It was a Wednesday night that we arrived home from my sister’s wedding in the Bahamas. Thursday morning saw Camille and I packing our backpacks to head up to NYC. Thursday afternoon, we were at the Tkts outlet in Brooklyn deciding on what Broadway play to see that evening. While there were lots to choose from, we decided on Phantom of the Opera. I figured it would appeal to her, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before.
After quickly dumping our backpacks at our hotel in Brooklyn, we headed over to Dylan’s Candy Bar, just to see what all the fuss was about. We picked up a few treats, then walked down to Times Square, stopping at one of those whole in the wall pizza joints that we love to visit while in NYC (this time it was Famous Original Ray’s.).
We made our way to the theater and got in the long line to enter. It was crowded, and unfortunately, rowdy. Seated directly behind us were four Russians who had clearly had been partying earlier and had even brought their own liquor supply in to continue the partying. They were loud. They were rude. They were obnoxious. We couldn’t hear. But, finally, after not too long, they left (or were kicked out). Thank goodness.
The play itself was okay. I didn’t find the acting, singing or the sets to be anything remarkable, but I’m still glad we went. Camille loved it. Next time, though, we’ll be looking for something different.
