gazoo – 14 oct 2011
Gazoo was not expecting this. She knew something was up as the house got emptier and emptier, but this? Not in her wildest dreams. Living on the fifth floor is not ideal for a jungle kitty’s explorations. But, we her people, are thrilled that she’ll no longer sleep in the street and stay out after
home – 13 oct 2011
Chloe took the bus to school today. Camille and I worked on our work and worked on unpacking and getting our new home all arranged. Slowly but surely, we are getting there.
moving – 12 oct 2011
I drove Chloe to school and came home to find this truck parked outside the house. The move went *fast*, but we had the movers move only the big furniture and the washer/dryer. By noon, we were moved *in*. It was a crazy, crazy day, but we’re sleeping in Decatur tonight.
FAVE – 11 oct 2011
I never said the day wouldn’t come. But I didn’t expect it to come this quickly. Last night was like Christmas Eve for Chloe. She couldn’t sleep due to the excitement and anticipation. I picke up Sally so Chloe would be arriving with a good friend. Everyone in the school appeared to be happy and
unschooler – 10 oct 2011
Today was Chloe’s last day as a homeschooler — in fact, she’s been unschooling for the past couple of weeks. She’s been reading waht she wants, playing with Legos and doing other various activities. Camille and I will miss having her around, but we hope that school proves to be a great experience for her.
Mission Downsize: Day 19
Nineteen days sounds like a terribly long time, but I suppose with all the changes we’re making, it really isn’t that long at all. Only a week ago we signed the contract for the condo. In that time we’ve made three trips to IKEA, assembled a whole lot of furniture, painted the girls’ room, gotten
camille – 9 oct 2011
Today we made our annual trip to the corn maze in North Georgia (well, actually, TN). Phil, Barbara, Rob, Camille, Chloe and I first headed to Arts in the Park in Blue Ridge, where we had delicious crepes for lunch. We then drove up along the Occoee to Benton, TN, where we went to The
school supplies – 8 oct 2011
Chloe is beyond excited about starting school. Tuesday morning just cannot come fast enough for her. I hope that she does love it, and it is a good fit for her. I’d hate to see her too disappointed by this new adventure.
cakes&ale – 7 oct 2011
Another day of moving : registered Chloe for SCHOOL!, ate lunch on the patio at Cakes&Ale, turned in a form to volunteer at the wine fest, joined the DeKalb History Center, went to Target and IKEA, assembled furniture.
furniture – 6 oct 2011
Another day of moving and assembling furniture. In addition, I went and got a new driver’s license. The girls picked up dinner from the deli across the street from the condo.
farmer’s market – 5 oct 2011
Another day of moving madness. The girls and I moved some stuff, put together some furniture and went to the farmer’s market. Rob worked on priming their new room. In the evening, Camille and I went back to Pine Lake early to pick up our CSA basket.
decatur square – 4 oct 2011
Chloe went to a picnic at the school she might be going to soon; Camille and I walked over to the square to the Walk and Roll to School event to see if we could learn about any bike safety classes on offer. We stopped at the Pita Pit to pick up some dinner.
Mission Downsize: Day 13
Shouldn’t we done by now? I suppose I should give us at least a month to rid ourselves of the possessions gained over the last two decades, right? And why oh why does downsizing involve lots and lots trips to IKEA?? The garage sale emptied the garage enough to allow us to start clearing out
king of pops – 3 oct 2011
Today we signed the papers and now have a Decatur Square address! The girls and I managed to sneak in a trip to IKEA in the afternoon, then take a walk around the square in the evening while Rob did some prep work on the girls’ new room. Camille had her first King of Pops
lakefest – 2 oct 2011
Lakefest this weekend! The girls had a fabulous time hanging out with our friends and neighbors. Camille sold lots of her pouches in the young artists’ booth. Chloe rode her bike up and down and pitched in to help as needed. I had a very tasty arepa from a food truck. Rob hung out with
Mission Downsize: Day 11
Tomorrow is the day that we sign the contracts to buy our new condo. Things really are moving forward FAST! Downsizing is moving forward quite nicely. I’ve listed a bunch more on the downsize blog, and lots of things have been placed on hold, bought or taken. Our bedroom set and the porch furniture are
on the porch – 1 oct 2011
I sure am going to miss sitting out here on my lovely porch on this beautiful furniture. Today lots of people came by, and we could hear the music from Lakefest drifting up.
