catching the rain – 19 jul 2011
Tuesday evening found us in Gaithersburg, MD, at the OneVoice ROCKS! concert along with a number of our kindie friends. We had a great time despite the heat. The rain shower during soundcheck did nothing to stop the show, thankfully.
work and leisure – 18 jul 2011
Up early to work. Work for 4.5 hours. Pack and then drive for 4 hours. At the hotel, sit by the pool and then in the room — work for another 4.5 hours. This is how I manage to work while taking a crazy road trip …
ice cream – 17 jul 2011
Our ice cream maker has had quite the workout this summer! The freezer is now full of ice cream, since it is more fun to make it than it is to eat it …
13 under 13 for 15 jul 2011
Robbie hosted the Sirius/XM Kids Place Live13 under 13 this week. (All week counts in here are approximate.) Heading down off the chart this week is “Hula Hoop Soup” from Secret Agent 23 Skidoo‘s new CD Underground Playground. We’ve been hooked on Skidoo for at least three years now. While I was not a fan
girls rock camp – 16 jul 2011
Tonight we rushed home from the cabin so Chloe could go to the Braves game for a birthday party and so that Camille and I could go to the Girls Rock Camp ATL showcase in midtown. Eleven bands in 3 hours has to be a record! We loved seeing the results of a one week
Travels: Chattanooga Sights
Last week, my mom, the girls and I traveled up to Chattanooga to attend a Lunch Money concert. I decided to splurge a little and stay at the ever-so fun Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. Since we were in Chattanooga for less than 24-hours and some of that time was at the concert, we had to
at the cabin – 15 jul 2011
Who knew? Chloe has spent hours and hours and hours playing with this rope hanging from the beams on the screened-in porch at the cabin. She ties knots, she swings, she climbs. My little monkey.
Photo Friday : Dusty Roads (Georgetown, TX > Carlsbad, NM)
On Day Four of our “epic trip out west“, we drove 499 miles, but only one of them on interstate highways! Driving the smaller roads from central Texas to southwest New Mexico, we saw dirt. Lots and lots of dirt. Usually the dirt was on the ground, but quite often it would be whipped up
up in the air – 14 jul 2011
What a bunch of silly, silly girls!
Homeschool Planning
It is that time of year again : time to plan our homeschooling adventures for the next year. As I wrote a couple of months ago, we are planning to do things a little differently for Camille. For Chloe, we are sticking with most everything that she has been doing, changing up only a few
ear piercing – 13 jul 2011
Nine! Chloe is nine, so, at long last, she can get her ears pierced! A friend who is also turning nine joined her, and they got to get their ears pierced together! Chloe was a bit nervous, but she did a great job of sitting still and being brave. She now has nice little birthstone
Travels: Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel
For a couple of years now, the girls and I have been talking about returning to chattanooga for a couple of days. We wanted to get back to the aquarium as well as visit some of the Lookout Mountain attractions such as Rock City and Ruby Falls. When I saw that Lunch Money would be
chloe – 12 jul 2011
We rushed home from the cabin this morning and ran around trying to find a gymnastics outfit for Chloe. I convinced Rob to pick her up form her practice so I could go home and get some more work done around the house. Five minutes after I dropped her off, I got a call from
hotel “track” hallway – 11 jul 2011
When considering a trip to visit Chattanooga, I decided to live out my “lifelong dream” of staying at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel in a train car. Yep, we spent the night in a train car, on a track, but that never left the station. Unlike any sleeper compartment we’ve ever been in, this room
live in concert: lunch money
Spur of the moment (sort of), we decided to take an overnight trip up to Chattanooga. We’ve been wanting to return for a couple years now and hearing that Lunch Money, our favorite kindie band from South Carolina, would be having a concert there made it seem like an ideal time to go. We’ve been
lunch money – 10 jul 2011
I’ll write more about the concert later, but today we drove up to Chattanooga to get to see one of our favorite kindie bands in action. It was great to see them once again! In addition, we had fun at the aquarium, and, last but not least, checking out our hotel room at the Chattanooga
13 under 13 for 8 jul 2011
Mindy hosted the Sirius/XM Kids Place Live13 under 13 this week. (All week counts in here are approximate.) On its way down off the chart this week is “We Go Duck” from Justin Roberts. My girls, despite being too old for Duck, Duck Goose (or is that Duck, Duck, Grey Duck?), still love this song.
hogwarts express – 9 jul 2011
After Chloe came home from her sleepover, she and Rob went our skating then stopped at Target, since a birthday gift card was burning a hole in her pocket. She was thrilled to find the Lego set that she wanted, Hogwarts Express” on clearance! The girls started to put it together at home, but then
texas grandparents – 8 jul 2011
My mom and dad (Barbara and Phil) came out to Georgia from Texas (despite my mom getting back from Germany this week) for Chloe’s ninth birthday party! Grandma went with Chloe to get her cake (an ice cream one — unfortunately my favorite). This morning they got to hang out for a few moments before
Photo Friday: Roadside America (I-20 ATL > TX)
Just a few days before our “epic trip out west“, I was daydreaming about all the “Great American Sights” we were planning to see – Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite. But that wasn’t enough. What about the “quirkier side” of this crazy country? A very short search (we were running out of time) later, I settled
