live in concert: lunch money
Spur of the moment (sort of), we decided to take an overnight trip up to Chattanooga. We’ve been wanting to return for a couple years now and hearing that Lunch Money, our favorite kindie band from South Carolina, would be having a concert there made it seem like an ideal time to go.
We’ve been following Lunch Money for almost 5 years now, thanks to the fabulous radio show Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child. While they’ve grown a bit, the songs from their first CD still please me (and the girls) to this day. We’ve seen them live in concert a dozen times, at festivals like Austin City Limits and Summer on Southport (Chicago) as well as smaller shows like yesterday’s show at the beautiful Lindsay Street Hall in Chattanooga, hosted by another great radio show The Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl.
From slower songs to the faster ones like “Dizzy” and “Rollercoaster”, the kids all danced. Molly handled the very traumatic issue of a guitar breaking at the start of the set with much grace. (Thank goodness for backup guitars!) And the “food choices” from the kids had to be the very funniest I’ve heard yet.
